Carrie,we discuss debt on this board, but are not a collector. You would have to contact collector directly.

I have heard that I am to send divorce papers to Midland Credit Finance Co.,(which I need the address to)showing that X and I are divorce and the property is now her responsibility. I just don't want her deliquency or whatever to end up destroying my credit.

Creditors could care less about a divorce decree. If your name is on contract or Tos as a responsible party,it is your debt and credit at risk.

I was contacted by midland to setttle an account that i had with aspire card. We settled on an amount which i made in payments and have paid the settlement amount in full. Now in todays mail i received a notice from another collection agency representing midland saying that my account has not been paid in full and that i owe a balance over $200.00. What the hell is with this midland company?

It sounds like they sold your account to another bottom-feeder without bothering to tell'em you'd paid it. Do you have any records to document the settlement agreement and your payments on it?

I had gotten a credit report with your establishment listed on it, but do not have an account with you. How can I find out what this is about.

Well first you should make sure Midland is actually legally able to collect on that debt. You should send them a validation letter. Once they validate (if they do) you can set up some kind of settlement with them, but get it in writing! Also you will have to have the agreement specifically worded to remove the account upon payment, it is usually called a 'pay for delete' otherwise they will just update it to read as paid and it will still be on your credit report for up to the 7 year time frame it was running on.

IT LOOKS LIKE AS SOON AS THE STATUTE WAS UP THEY SOLD IT TO MIDLAND. I CAN SEE FROM DIFFERENT THREADS THEY WILL PROBALY DRIVE ME CRAZY. i READ ON THE BUDD HIBBS WEB SITE THAT THIS COMPANY IS INCREASING IN SIZE. HE ACTUALLY LISTS THEM AS AN AGENCY TO AVOID.

There is several letters on this sites "do it yourself" section and there is a DV letter listed there. I also write a credit repair blog and I have listed what letter I use, but it is mostly worded for Texas law, but if you are interested you can go take a look, a link is listed in my signature.
