Im currently deployed to Iraq right now and my wife is stating that Ive got two letters from this law office. They are dealing with a bank account that I had almost 4 years ago and closed prior to joining. I even got a check from the bank because I had money in the accounts. The bank isnt on my credit report and they have nothing about me oweing them money. I should just send the debt validation letter and I should expect my file to be closed correct? My wife is kind of freaking out about this.

So is this really an attorney's office, or just some collection agency?

Let me tell everyone a horror story about Mitchell offices. They have been sending letters and calling me about an outstanding bill..............for furniture that was NOT paid for. The 'funny' thing is the letter was in my son's name. I called the office and explained they are sending the letter to a minor. They basically said I was lying and they said tey "would sue my son for an unpaid bill." My son is only 15. I don't think he went out and financied furniture!! This debt was under my ex's name ( ex and son ave same ame) and this debt is OVER 15 years old. They din't want to hear what I had to say, so I hung up. I tried to call a few more times, and just got no where with this issue.

They keep calling our home phone and ask for different people. I have asked them to stop many times but they don't and are extremely rude. They get abusive and yell. I am turning their number over to the attorney generals office.

BBALLR..I wanted to say I'm in the military, too. I was deployed in 2003, to Kwaitt/Iraq. We came back in 2004. God bless ya!! Hope you come home safe. I serve in the Army Reserves. Now...back to the Mitchell thing. They ARE horrible!...The several times, that the 'office' has called me, I have NEVER to Ms. Kay(?). I've always talked to the secretary ( she claims..anyway). She always tells me that the "lawyer is too busy to talk to me." When they have called, I had a few different numbers, come up on my caller ID.

Wow! I really believed that " honesty is the best policy! " And, i still do, but, after reading all of this " worthy " advice, I am thrilled that I decided to check out Mitchell N. Kay website! I received a similiar letter that many of you ate talking about too. I called them and the representative talked so fast, I could not make out what he was saying! I am going to hold off and look into this matter further ! Thanks so much for the advice!

I got the same letter from this law office about two months ago stating i have an outstanding balance from T Mobile (which Ive never subscribed with, always has been with AT&T) for $213 but they would settle for $136. I looked them up and found some forums and ripoff consumer reports about this company, so I ignored the letter.

Two weeks ago, I finally convinced my husband to get rid of his TRUCK and get a car that wont burn holes in our pockets, so we went to a Toyota delearship and when they ran my credit report, it shows that I have an account in collection reported to the credit bureau by this law office!!!

OMG! The financial manager at the delearship asked me how come I have this bill in collection but all of our credit cards have zero balance... so I told him the story behind it, we were able to get the car. whew!

Anyways, 10 minutes as soon as we left the delearship, I called the 866 telephone number listed and spoke a to a rude Indian lady named Neja, told her I have never opened an account with Tmobile, she was pushing me to verify my last 4 of ssn and my address. I didnt do such thing and hung up after I gave her a 10 mins spiel.

Next day, I got 12 calls in my workplace from this law office, and its an automated message, this is becoming a nightmare and very embarrassing!!!! They called my office for the next 4 days, this time the number of calls are astronomically rising and sometimes, its a live person at the other line... then my boss started noticing, even my coworkers, thats when I got scared that this might cost me my job.

I spoke with my husband and we both decided to get it over with so I called last monday and paid the 'settlement amount' the lady i spoke to said that within 5 to 7 business days we will receive a confirmation letter that this debt has been settled. From what I have been reading, some contributors in this forum are saying that they never receive a letter to confirm paid debt? Should I call the Credit Bureau and give them detailed information on the payment we did?

HELP!!! I just want this out of my credit report!

i'm sorry to say this, but you got scammed.you should have file a dispute with the credit reporting agency.this scammer not only won't send a payment confirmation.they probably will continue to report it on your CR.on top of that, this scammer most likley will try to extort more money.i would file AG and FTC complaints.sorry to bring the bad news, but it is the mantra of this forum.NO VALIDATION IN WRITING NO PAYMENT.

here is how you solve the problem.first go to your bank and claim that you never authorized that payment.your bank should do a fraud investigation and return whatever monies were taken.next dispute this entry to the credit bureaus.after that file the complaints listed in my previous post.it is key to not mention the attempted payment to the credit bureaus.this is a scammer deulxe.

DO NOT PAY TO THIS COLLECTION OFFICE. THEIR CLAIM IS FRAUDULENT.
I received a letter (dated October 200 in the mail stating that I owed on a delinquent T Mobile account from MAY 2006. I looked up a free annual credit report and saw that my "Collections" file was empty. The report did not show that I ever owned a T Mobile account and certainly was not delinquent on payments.
LOOK UP YOUR INFO ON
annualcreditreport (dotcom)!
DO NOT GIVE ANY ACCOUNT INFO TO THIS COMPANY!
THIS IS A SCAM!!!
