I got the same letter from this law office about two months ago stating i have an outstanding balance from T Mobile (which Ive never subscribed with, always has been with AT&T) for $213 but they would settle for $136. I looked them up and found some forums and ripoff consumer reports about this company, so I ignored the letter.
Two weeks ago, I finally convinced my husband to get rid of his TRUCK and get a car that wont burn holes in our pockets, so we went to a Toyota delearship and when they ran my credit report, it shows that I have an account in collection reported to the credit bureau by this law office!!!
OMG! The financial manager at the delearship asked me how come I have this bill in collection but all of our credit cards have zero balance... so I told him the story behind it, we were able to get the car. whew!
Anyways, 10 minutes as soon as we left the delearship, I called the 866 telephone number listed and spoke a to a rude Indian lady named Neja, told her I have never opened an account with Tmobile, she was pushing me to verify my last 4 of ssn and my address. I didnt do such thing and hung up after I gave her a 10 mins spiel.
Next day, I got 12 calls in my workplace from this law office, and its an automated message, this is becoming a nightmare and very embarrassing!!!! They called my office for the next 4 days, this time the number of calls are astronomically rising and sometimes, its a live person at the other line... then my boss started noticing, even my coworkers, thats when I got scared that this might cost me my job.
I spoke with my husband and we both decided to get it over with so I called last monday and paid the 'settlement amount' the lady i spoke to said that within 5 to 7 business days we will receive a confirmation letter that this debt has been settled. From what I have been reading, some contributors in this forum are saying that they never receive a letter to confirm paid debt? Should I call the Credit Bureau and give them detailed information on the payment we did?
HELP!!! I just want this out of my credit report!
