The law office had sent me a settlement plan to payoff a credit card that, I had and was not happy with the items that they had sent me. Now, I want to send you the amount of 87.82 that you are asking for but I feel like why should I be paying for something that I was not happy with, I had returned the items back to the company and wrote a letter to them stating that I was not happy with the FAKE items. Now if someone email me and let me know that this is the right choice to make by paying the law office them you will have your money sent to you on the 30th of November.

just wonder if this "Law Offices" is a real Law Firm or just a collection company.
My acct has been charge off for a year already, and i got a letter from mitchell & kate yesterday, in my knowledge, charge off is better than settlement(not paid in full), in most cases, it even make your credit worse if you pay (not paid in full).
also, i read the post here, one of the victmi said that Mitchell N kay froze his/her bank account, it happened to you guys?
anyway, just wanna make it clear what kind of "office" that is
thank you for helping

I've been receiving threatening messages on my cell from this rude law firm. It turns out that they had their information all wrong and they were looking for someone else but with the same last name.
Rather than apologize for their error, they hung up on me. I plan to report this firm to the NY Bar Association. That's the only way that they'll learn

Just got a letter from Mitchell N, Kay law offices asking me to pay some debt with an account number that may or may not be mine. The amount is 295.31 they want 60% of that which is 177.18.
About 18 years ago, I lost the job I had and my car was repo'ed, and my credit card accounts closed. I also received a letter from NCO Portfolio Management asking for $7,103.21 or settle the account for $4,261.63. NCO was mentioned here somewhere, or a link to info on them. I also read here that after 7 years nothing can legally be done.
Anyway, 6 years ago, I began rebuilding my credit and have done well. I have 4 major credit cards and bought a brand new car 6 months ago. When I bought the new car they said my credit score was 753 on one agency and 748 on another. So, I am confused. So far I have just been ignoring the whole situation. Any ideas? Yes, I was bad 18 years ago, but I doubt Toyota or American Express (if that's what it is) is really hurting because I didn't pay them.

I also got a letter from this law office and was a little skeptical to send a payment. I was very worried about this debt sitting on my credit and since it was only $98.00, I decided to cut the check.
I applied for a loan today, and the debt is still on my credit report. I am not sure whether or not this law firm is doing legitimate or not. Since I recently paid, it will take a bit of time to see results.

Do you happen to have a number or address for this firm? I am going to call and demand that action take place immediately and that proper paperwork is filled out.

Thanks so much for any help!

Gina, this is a debt forum in which people discuss about their different financial issues. You need to contact Wachovia Bank and get the status of your account. No one from this board will send your message to your bank. You have to contact them on your own.

Is what a scam?

This forum?
No. We discuss debt, credit reports, debt collectors, etc...

Law Offices of Mitchell Kay?
Can't say for certain. I believe they are a collection agency. If they're trying to collect on a debt you owe (or they say you owe), you might want to send them a debt validation letter--send it return receipt. Make them prove they are lawfully attempting to collect your debt.

I've read that some of you had problems with Mitchell N. Kay law offices. How did you settle this issue?
My brother-in-law is a lawyer and suggested that I called the law offices immediately and demand that a letter of confirmation be sent to me.

I definitely learned a lesson to check things out before I pay. I just cannot figure out how they got this information. A credit report shows all companies that check out your credit, and this law firm is not on there.

Does anyone have the phone number for this firm?
Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Lin
