I had an account that got away from me a few years back (<7) with AT&T. It eventually went to Palisades for collections and I was still unable to pay the debt. I received a letter from Mitchell N. Kay for the amount that shows on my credit report as being owed to Palisades (plus $0.57), but of course I could pay the settlement amount. I am able to take care of this debt now, with payments, and logged into their resolve.mitchellnkay.com website and set up a payment arrangement to pay off the entire debt using post dated electronic checks (I did, however date the first one 5/8/08 ). Then I decided to google the law office and found myself in the same situation alot of people here have found themselves in. I will be calling AT&T in the morning and probably Palisades after that, but I am really curious as to any positive results from dealing with this company. Have there been any?

Any information has been and will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

Be warned, they have very shady and deceptive reps there and continue to try to withdraw money from my bank account despite repeated stop payments I've put on it. I am closing my account as a result and banking elsewhere.

People Please do me a favor. Look at the envelope that the letter from Mitchell N. Kay came from. CHECK THE ZIPCODE!!!!!!!!!! see if it was in fact mailed from New York or in my case from 48068 which is Royal Oak Michigan. Chances are that he is using boilerplate tactics and is using a mass-mailing system not from his office. No attorney has viewed these letters and you can sue him.

If you go to Mitchell N. Kay's website, it says he is admitted in New York and Washington D.C.
If you look up his name in D.C. you get this:

Mitchell N Kay
Law Offices of Mitchell N Kay PC
7 Penn Plaza
PO Box 3163 Jaf Station
New York NY 10116-3163

Email: mnk@mitchellnkaylaw.com
Phone: 212-594-1991
Fax: 212-847-8220

Membership Status: Inactive
Disciplinary history: No
Date of admission: October 16, 1973

If you look up his New York license, It expires in July. I am reporting him because he says he can practice law in D.C. when he can't and also he has a Massachusetts phone number saying law offices giving the false belief that he is a MA attorney.

I urge others to report him also and shut him down.

If you don't recognize the amount, creditor, etc., you need to send them a validation letter before you even think about giving them money. There's a good DV template here.

almost 2 years ago i got a letter from mitchell n. kay.. saying that i owe t-mobile around 300+. and they would settle it down if i pay half of it.. but that time i call them and ask them if i can pay 50 now and the 100 dollars is on my next pay day.. but they said no.. so every month i keep on paying 20-30 dollars.. and also every month they would send me a bill saying the get my letter and i should send my payment by the end of the month.. its been 3 months now and i was wondering why i didn't get a bill? i call them and they told me that i wrote a check last april 5? but how can i wrote a check if i didn't get any bill right? i told him the last check i wrote was march 28. he also told me that my next bill should be arriving on may 5th. but up until now i didn't get any bill? so i wrote them a letter and i even email them saying my concern. but they didn't even bother calling or writing to me.. now i'm so worried. cuz i only have 60 dollars left of my debt which is 300+. i'm so scared that i must have wasted my money for nothing.. now i don't know wat to do.. please help me.. i can't get in touch with them..

Never give a debt collector any information. Not even a personal check. I have been getting a bill from Mitch Kay for a 5 year old ATT bill. It could have come from a dumpster for all I know. I am not paying it!
