Puma, get confirmation from Law Offices of Mitchell N Kay they are the owner of your account. Have you got all the details of your account mentioned in the paper? Also, Mitchell N. Kay needs to add a statement that after you have paid the debt, they will send your accounts to the creditors who in turn will update your file with the bureaus. You must have every future action in writing from them.
I gathered some information about law offices of mitchell n. kay from the BBB website.

A few weeks ago I was going through my old paperwork and scanning items in an attempt to become paperless. I came across a payment I made on a credit card. Paid in full. I then came across a collection letter from the Law Offices of Mitchell N Kay. I paid that as well. At the time (2003), I was in the process of trying to pay off all my debt. So I didn't really notice that it was the same card. Now, I am out an extra $308.99 that I paid to the Law Offices when I didn't need to. I am online now trying to find out how to get my money back. law offices of mitchell n. kay are a very deceptive "firm". Don't pay it. Instead, check your credit report. That is more accurate. If it's on there, have them investigage it and it'll be removed.

In February I got a letter from The Law Officers of Mitchell N Kay PC, offering to settle a long charged off debt for $279 which was less than half the debt. Since I knew a satisfied debt was better than a charge off, I took them up on their offer. They were to report the settlement to all 3 credit bureaus but 4 months later not only haven't they done that, when I initiated a dispute with the credit bureaus to get it cleared up it comes back verified. Mitchell N Kay are denying any payments despite me having the bank transfers to prove it. So now I join the masses in a class action suit...I was be very careful dealing with this collection agency

law office of M.N.Kay
General information:
If you owe a debt and have a letter offering a settlement and you pay, the creditor,eg, Macys,Fingerhut or the company that owns them are responsible to report it to the credit bureau not the law office or collection agency(unless they own the debt or the paper)
After your bill is paid get a LETTER OF SATISFACTION, This states what you paid, to whom you paid it and for what you paid. This can be your proof to the credit agencies if the account owners are dragging their feet on reporting it to the credit bureaus. Keep proof of payment until you are satisfied the issue is closed. If you paid a bill in full and a collections agency writes you to pay that same bill and you paid it and then found proof, get all the documents together, photocopy them and send it to the account owner for a refund.
Law offices of mitchell n. kay have been in business for a number of years, if they were doing deceptive and shady practices, they would have been shut down a long time ago. Lets face it, noone likes to be forced in paying a debt they probably cant afford at that time or that they plum forgot about. But someone has to collect it, as long as my rights are not infringed upon and total respect is maintained, feel free, do your job.

i called Mitchell N Kay to try to make arrangements to pay off debt.i offered to pay $100 aweek until debt is paid off($670)they refused and said that i would need to pay $370 then and then the rest in 2weeks.that was all i could afford at the time and i thought that as long as you make an attempt to pay they would or should not refuse...Law Offices of Mitchell N Kay were hired to get debt paid in full why would they refuse any money from a willing debtee?

I recently received a letter from Law Offices of Mitchell N Kay stating that I owed money for a phone bill. I have never had a phone in my name. When I called the office, they told me the phone number attached to the debt. It was the phone number where I used to live, but it was never in my name. When I told them that, she said, "There's nothing I can do. You have to put it in writing, and we have to receive it within 30 days of mailing the letter to you." So I sent Mitchell N Kay a letter (certified, so that they can't say they never got it), and we will see what happens next. Good luck to anyone else dealing with this type of situation.

Threaten Mitchell N Kay with a bar complaint if they don't do what they are legally required to do. And follow through if need be. It looks like he's in NY and NJ, so you can file complaints with either or both state bars.

This will usually get an attorney's attention!!

On Jan. 23, 2004 I sent Law Offices of Mitchell N Kay a check for a Direct TV bill that they said was unpaid. Yesterday Aug. 21, 2006 my son phoned and said he got a collection notice about a Direct TV acct. in my husband's name BUT WITH my sons SS#. They said the account had never been paid. My son has never had a Direct TV account in his name and has since moved from the location that the acct. was for. We also moved from this location in April 2003. Now 2 1/2 years later Mitchell N Kay are trying to collect again. What can be done because this is showing in our son's name and is ruining his credit??????

Law Offices of Mitchell N Kay is indeed a scam. You can go to the courthouse and tell them that Mitchell N. Kay got a default judgement against you. The court will direct you how to reapply to have that judgement thrown out which will free up your account. You will be given a new court date and 9 times out of 10 MItchell N. Kay will not show up. Don't give these people any money.
Come to find out, Mitchell N Kay isn't even a reputable law firm. It's just a fancy namefor a collection agency. Be sure to google them bums.

They have been calling my cell phone and not leaving messages. I have called them back--law offices of mitchell n. kay is looking for someone that I have never heard of (maybe owned this number at one point). Their representative was rude and hung up on me when I asked Mitchell N Kay to stop calling my cell phone.
I would not trust anything from this so-called law firm!!
