I owe what they say i do, but i have made it quite clear that since i havn't worked in two years, with a workerscomp case pending, and no temporary disability payments coming in i have no money to make payments. The only time that i got upset with the person who called was when she said that she would mark it down as I refuse to pay. Legally speaking is that the same thing. I have an appointment on Thursday to see about getting on S.S.I. since I have a heart condition an may never be able to go back to work even though I an only 54. If I get SSI, how would be the best method to use if i can set up payment arraingments? I am not worried about my credit, it is already ruined.

Can the collection agency freeze all my accounts including my money market account? If I move to another bank can they find out and how? Thank you.

Can any law enforcement agencies crack down this some "MRS Associates" with phone number 888-274-9871. They refused to reveal their address. The calls from them are just annoying and disrespectful. They call you during your evening time with a recorded voice telling you to "wait for an important message" which I thought was some emergencies from local government or my job. Then a machine like voice started talking to me and asked me if I were the person with the name that part of it was similar to mine, and he kept asking me is I was the person or what my name was. Until I got all their information and told them I was going to call FBI to report them, the person then quickly hanged up the call. By the way, the person said his name was "Jordan Gilbert." Is this "Jordan Gilbert" a real name or just a fabricated one? If you are real and honest, Jordan, please go ahead finding a real job and stop being a con artist to harass and cheat people.

By the way, we have no debts, no mortgage and we pay off all credit card balances every month - we know very well how to manage our money. So if they kept calling my home phone to disturb my peaceful life, they must be some kind of con artists.

Just so you know, India's second official language is English. Many people speak English there, but pronounce their words differently (like England or Australia).

AND MRS sucks. Hubby's loan went into default when his parents filed bankruptcy (co-signers), yet he is the one they pull the money from even though he "should" have had four more years of deference for school. It's the parents' fault, but MRS only bothers him. He wouldn't make his parents take it any way, but I don't trust them, they haven't proven it yet (he sent a letter but never bothered to do certified...doh. I swear I have to hold his hand). But they "said" he can pay 2700 (I think the total owed for the loans was about 5500) and the rest would go away... REALLY??

Hi harassed,
Did you check if you really owe the debt and if the collection agency has the right to collect it from you? Who is the original creditor? I think you'd be better off dealing with the original creditor rather than with a collection agency. Contact your creditor and check if they are willing to work with you.

In case they are, send the collection agency a letter asking them to stop contacting you as you are working with the original creditor to repay the debt. You may refer to the following page to view a sample letter which you can send to the collection agency to stop them from contacting you:

This was the most horrible place I ever worked. Everything you read about them is true. I got fired, (thank god), because I couldn't meet their goals. They actually told me if I made a person cry on the phone, that they would pay their bill! I couldn't believe what I heard from all the reps around me on the phone. Yelling at people, slamming the phone down on them. All the threats made to people. They would laugh and say what losers these people were. I couldn't do the job. People have problems that come up and sometimes they just don't have the money. I was too much of a customer service person, and understanding and compasionate to do that job. I can't beleive it is still in business. If they are calling you, tell them to stop calling, and don't ever talk to them again. Slam the phone down on them and never answer their calls. And DON'T WORRY ABOUT THEM. THEY ARE THE ONES THAT ARE LOSERS.

I have just went through a night mare dealing with this Agency. A year and a half ago, I went through a hard divorce and had a debt with Chase for $1200. I gave my ex power of attorney, because I was moving over to England to recoup from my divorce. While gone, a collection agency contacted my ex and agreed to go down to $800 if he paid $400, then $200 the next two months. He gave them $400, and then called him the next month to let them know his finances were low that month and wanted to know if he could pay the $200 a bit later than agreed. He then found out the debt went back to Chase and the new amount was back at $1200. He called them and they would not talk to him even though he had a power of attorney signed. Then I move back March of this year and a collection company contacts me with an agreed settlement of $675. I did not have work yet and ask them to lower it back to around $400 where the price should have been back at the original agreement. She said no it had to be $675. I asked her to email it to me, because I am not going to do verbal agreements anymore. I never got the email and did not have her contact info, so I was waiting for her to call me back. I then found a contract part time job to work evenings so I can care for my ill grandmother. I bring home $250 every two weeks. Well next thing I know I get a very harrassing call from a rep with MRS. She said since I work now, I can pay the entire debt! I explained it is part time and she would not listen to me. I then told her about the other debt company going to $675 and she would not do that either. She also called from a cell number. I told her good bye and hung up. She called the next day asking if I got her email, which I did not and she did not believe me. I thought maybe they have it written down wrong and that is why I never got any emails from her or the other debt company. She basically called me a lier and would not allow me to talk. I wanted to settle this....and she talked over me so I hung up and blocked her phone number. I tried to deal through Chase, but the executive office said it was out of their hands now. I called MRS today to talk to her supervisor since it was obvious I could not talk to the original lady. I got an Alex on the line and he would not listen to my situation. He said they will only go down to $860. I explained my living arrangements and lack of funds and he did not care....He kept reminding me that I was being recorded so I said yes and I am recording you too....he then got all jumpy and said I can not use my recording against them.....I said then I will put it on youtube....I asked to speak to his supervisor and he said he had none....that he was the manager over the entire department. I said then someone about that entire department will do....and he said their was no one....I then asked for my account number, he kept talking over me about numbers, I spoke over him asking for my account number and he hung up on me! I called back and spoke to Marcus who is a supervisor too....I was so frustrated....I explained to him I have a parttime job and only bring home $250 every two weeks....he would not go any lower than $860. I told him I am confused how another collection place could go to $675 and they cant...and I am barely able to live on what I have. He then said I could get a fulltime job!!!! I have an ill grandmother I have to care for during the days, and a parttime job to put food in my stomach.....I feel like they have me in a corner and don't care if I live in a home or in the streets. I finally agreed to pay $72 a month for 12 months....isn't there something that can protect me from them getting all that money from me when my paycheck is so low? Are there any rights out there for me or not?

I'm getting calls from 201-918-3016 and 201-478-8489 (I AM registered on the Do No Call registry) I've done some research and believe it to be MRS Associates, Inc. Can anyone confirm that for me? The calls are always in the evening and on my cell phone. When I do hear the call I pick it up and I can't understand the person on the other end... very thick accent. I'm pretty sure that it's a wrong #, I tell them so but they keep calling. I blocked the first # then they started calling from the second #. Any suggestions?

I am somewhat convinced that MRS is stealing phone numbers from the Chase/Capital one credit cards. These calls started exactly after i applied for new card from them. I NEVER bothered to attend their calls as there is no need. I do not have any debts. Even though you have some debts, you can make a deal with where you owe. NO NEED TO ANSWER THEM. I just keep adding their numbers to my screen list. From the various forums i have learned that they just have a phone number and nothing else.. from that they try to steal other vital information from our mouth like SSN or bank a/c or credit card or even name. I have a gut feeling in this country that if you have a debt, only thing is next time when you go for loan or service with future payments is denied and nothing else, which can also be achieved by paying a deposit. MRS never bothered to send a written mail, as they do not have any info. I will never bother to respond if there is no written communication. I dont know how far this phone harassments can be proved in court and that is why MRS is using that which does not carry any proof.. No need to frustrate, just make them frustrate by not attending calls from them... Cheers.

I have had never ending calls from MRS for a week and they are asking for a relative of mine and always hang up before I can say anything. They also are hanging up on this said relative of mine in a different state. Why won't they talk to us? If it's a collection agency, how do they expect to get anywhere without speaking? I mean, the literally ask, is so-and-so there? Then, click-they hang up! Anyone else experience this??

As of 10 am this morning this number worked: 832-632-4589

I know this because some ass called earlier and refused to identify his company, insisted on speaking to someone that I don't even know (previous occupants of the house) and NEVER had this number, then became verbally abusive. I called back and was greeted with MRS Associates and filed a complaint with the FTC and Attorney General. Verbally abusive behavior is bad enough when you owe the bill, but this one isn't mine!
