HI im not sure if this is the right forum to post my concerns.
Orchardbank has been charging me fees other than late payment fees, and overcharge fees.
The way they charged me was little fees such as ACCOUNT SECURE, IDENTIY PP, CHECK BY PHONE ($12.95!!)
I only have about $300.00 and i only used it 5x at the most. All thse little fees adds up. While they add up, they charged overlimit fee.
All this goes on for month after month after month. Every month i called and checked and told them i dont want these IDENTITY THEFT fee and they won't remove it. I only have $300 Limit to my accuont. They charged me so far: $90. for this alone.-$10 each month
And when I asked them to close down the account, they wouldn't. they wanted me to pay the whole thing off before i can close account. Meanwhile they still charged me all these fees.
ive been a member since earlier 2005.
Their commercial is 100% Lies
do i have a chance to sue them?
Im so angry, all i wanted to do is to build up my credit and theyve ruined everything

On your statement where they bill you for the account secure and identity theft there should be 800 numbers to call and cancel them. They are separate numbers from the Orchard number. I pay my account online so there is no fee. You can also see your statements and everything online and manage your account. Check and make sure the account secure and identity theft whatever are canceled. If not, keep calling until they are. They should refund you some money. Orchard is bad about over the limit fees. They will charge you immediately. They will also charge you multiple over the limit fees a month.

Orchard is one of my credit cards. My limit was $500,but due to late fees, which created over limit fees,I now owe them over $1000.I got charged late fee even when I paid my bill 7 days early. They said it was not posted until after due date.Companies like these make thier money off all these fees.I have since joined a consolidation program and so far everything is going smooth.

Please check your agreement papers, perhaps their fee structure is explained there. If you find they are violating the agreement, you can definitely sue them.
There should be some way of canceling identity pp, account secure options, I guess. Speak to the higher authority and explain the problem. Best of luck.

Some people are lucky enough to not have charge accounts or can PAY OFF the accounts and live a "debt free" life. Unfortunately, they are far & few between. There is an 800 # to call and cancel the Payment Protection Plan. That is one plan that is useless, unless of course you happen to become disable after your required wait period. I would review your records that you signed B/4 and after they approved you. If, you feel you are right and they have charged you in error and over the fees stated by law there are lawyers out there who can help you and give you the advise you so desperatley need. GOOD LUCK!!!!

It's interesting because Orchard Bank was oneof the ones I don't usually have a problem with. I pay online every month with them and if there is a mistake, I call them and they fix it. Now if you signed up for naything either through their website or even other places, you have to reads the fineprint. Alot of times there will be little boxes at the bottom that say something like "Yes! Also include me in......." and if you hit submit, it's over and you have to go back and call all these places. I usually call and start the conversation with something like "Please let me apologize now if I sound rude, I know it is not you that caused this" Usually that sets the tone and they are very receptive. Most of the time they can help, if not ask to speak to a manger. Sometimes they will tell you that they need to take your phone number and call you back. If they don't within 24 hours, call again and refer back to the day before. Make sure that they have notes on your account that says you called and what the conversation was about and ALWAYS write the time, date and who you spoke to down for your own reference. Eventually you ill speak to a manager and it should get worked out. Hope this helps!

Almost forgot, regarding the pay by phone fees. If you do a Quick Payment where it gets credited the same day online they charge the $12.95, I usually use the one that posts in 3 days but they still credit it on the day I put it into them. I almost NEVER pay by phone because they charge so much for it. I did once however, make a payment online and when I spoke to a rep said that I wanted to increase the payment. She said "Oh no problem, I will do that for you" What she neglected to tell me was that it got changed from paying online to a pay by phone! I of course called them immediately and complained about what had happened and they took care of it right away! Good Luck!

I have to say that Orchard bank has been really good to me. I started out with a $300 limit and now I'm up to $1400 and I have not ask for a credit to raise my limit. I pay them each month online and it is posted the same day. But I have heard of others that do have a problem with them.

You can't be late and cannot go over limit. As long as you stick to the rules its not very expensive and a great way to build up credit.
OB was the only card I was able to get about 6 months ago and have not had any problems so far.

I was told by a financial advisor that used to work in collections, and worked also for various credit card companies, that Orchard Bank is one of the first to sue, especially since they mainly give cards to people with bad credit. So, be very careful with these guys. I don't have a card with them, this is just what I was told. Capital One is another he said will sue very quickly.

I had a problem with Capital One in 1999. Actually due to my own neglegence I was late paying for a couple of months and the fees racked up. I still paid but since I was late they charged a late fee.
It ended up accumulating to some unreasonable figure like $800 for only a $200 credit line. When I refused to pay it went to collections and I ended up settling with them for something like $400 or so.
This was back in 99 so the laws may have changed on what they can charge ( sounds more like a payday loan than a Visa Card )
So yes be carefull with these poor credit Visa's as they will try and stick it to you. I have been current with my Orchard Bank card and have not had any problems so far.

mcclain5,
You can call them up to know if they receive payments online or not. You can also inquire about their web address.
Or search for the bank with BBB website. BBB has a huge database of US businesses. It maintains their contact details and web address too.
