Sub: Palisades Fraud

I had a supposed debt that I settled with Palisades Collections, LLC last April and by May I was getting new forms from one of thier affiliates (Oxford Management) to settle the same debt again (under a new account number of course- but all the details and amounts were the exactly the same)--the settlement that was offered was, when added to what I settled for on the first collection account, equal to the original supposed total of the debt.

They reported this new account that they opened as a seperate debt to my credit report and now I have 2 collections items FOR THE SAME THING! When I called and wrote to ask them to explain the debts and how they are different, they can provide no answers or details. And THEY WON'T REMOVE ANYTHING FORM MY CREDIT REPORT. To boot, when I called the company to whom Palisades said I owed the original debt, AT&T--THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF ME EVER BEING A CUSTOMER!

Do I have legal rights? I have all the documentation form Palisades and verifications that I did pay--Is it worth hiring an attorney? I feel not only have they already possibly stolen from me, but they are attempting to do it again!

I have a debt to AT&T for about 10k... hard to believe I know. How ever I am only 24. I was 19 when I joined the military and did not know the importance of keeping contracts for my record. Palisades has been a collection agent trying to get a hold of me for some time now. The debt is for roaming and long distance charges in 03/04. When I contacted AT&T in 04 they told me they never received a new contract for me. This was 3 years ago, Is there anything I can do to fight it? I need help. I get marrried in 7 months and move back to the states in 4 and have terrible credit b/c of this. my e-mail is email address removed as per forum rules - Mike. I really need help!

Several years ago I helped who I thought was a good friend get a phone. I co-signed. The person, in a short time, ended up racking up a $1500 bill. I always tried to get AT&T to contact the other person whose bill it was. They wouldn't. Now Palisades has the bill and now the bill is $2300. How can the bill have jumped up almost $1000? Is this legal? I had talked to Palisades last year. They told me they wanted a minimum payment of $150 a month which I was not able to afford. Now a default judgment has been filed. Advise?? Is there a statute of limitations?

I sent a dispute letter in February 2007 asking them to validate their claim. I sent three copies. 2 were first class & one certified. They signed for the cerified mailing. I did not hear another word from them to this day but, they just reported me a couple weeks ago to the credit reporting companies and my credit took a 40 point hit due to some bogus roaming charges I refused to pay from AT&T back in 2003. I am currently seeking legal justice.

I received a letter in the mail from the above collection advising me that they were taking legal actions to find out days later they put a hold on my bank account meanwhile i never recieved any other notice regarding this account that they say i owed which was a at&t bill of 500., i tried settleing with palisades (which they were very rude to me) on the supeona which the bank forward a copy to me stated they were holding the account for $859. Which include legal fees when i called the third time to try to settle i gave in and told them i will give them the $859. They wanted and lets settle this to find out there response was oh we won't settle for that amount we are requesting 1,200. I told them this is not fair im paying double the amount owed anyway i told them i will get back to them, a few days after this phone conversation with palisades, i receive a letter from the marshals office that if i didn't respond in 20 days they will start process for garnishment and the amount palisade requested was $2000.00 is that insane or what

I am in the process of filing bankruptcy and have just located the current address of Palisades Collection, Inc off the website for my Secretary of State.

According to the Oregon Secretary of State the following is the current address of record for Palisades Collections:

210 Sylvan Ave
Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632

I pulled my Credit report a few weeks ago and found Palisades Collection on it regarding a debt of $36.99 with AT&T which I was never aware of. I contacted them and of course they were very rude and nasty,I refuse to pay them since they have never sent me a Letter to collect. Now I'm receiving Phone calls from a Company called ASTA FUNDING which has the same Address of Palisades, so I guess they changed Names.

Sub: Palisades wants me to send them police report/ affidavit of

fraud...

I already sent a police report and proof I was out of state when this debt occurred. to the 3 Credit Bureaus and they have deleted Palisades from my report after doing an investigation. Now, a couple weeks later, Palisades wants me to respond in 30 days with a copy of this report and a signed affidavit. Should I send this to them if I have already sent it to the Credit Bureaus? This is the FIRST time I have EVER received anything from these scam artists. They just put the debt on my credit report without validation.

Thanks!

Sub: contacting this agency

I have read several threads on this Palisades collection agency. I have tried every number, and i understand that they are out of business. Also most of the threads are about ATand T. My credit report shows them collecting for Verizon. Has anyone else had this? I have tried the following numbers... 866-877-0008, 800-425-0006, 201-567-5648, 800-414-8319. The second number 800-425-0006 states that for two years Palisades has associated their company with them and they are not in any way linked or associated with them. The lady gave me the 800-414-8319 number which when dialed connects and then disconnects immediately like the 866-877-0008 number. This is a bit frustrating..... any help is appreciated! Thank you!!
