I had a supposed debt that I settled with Palisades Collections, LLC last April and by May I was getting new forms from one of thier affiliates (Oxford Management) to settle the same debt again (under a new account number of course- but all the details and amounts were the exactly the same)--the settlement that was offered was, when added to what I settled for on the first collection account, equal to the original supposed total of the debt.
They reported this new account that they opened as a seperate debt to my credit report and now I have 2 collections items FOR THE SAME THING! When I called and wrote to ask them to explain the debts and how they are different, they can provide no answers or details. And THEY WON'T REMOVE ANYTHING FORM MY CREDIT REPORT. To boot, when I called the company to whom Palisades said I owed the original debt, AT&T--THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF ME EVER BEING A CUSTOMER!
Do I have legal rights? I have all the documentation form Palisades and verifications that I did pay--Is it worth hiring an attorney? I feel not only have they already possibly stolen from me, but they are attempting to do it again!
