Document everything with these people, they are some of the worst. I have dealt with them myself. If it is legal in your state, I would record the calls with them.

Default Palisades Coll

I just ran my credit report and found a collection account from Palisades. The only reason why I know that it is related to a ATT Wireless acct is because of the account number. I had a account with ATT 7 years ago and my credit has already been negatively effected, but it already got erased from credit because it been over 7 years old. How in the world can Palisades re-collect on a account that has already been resolved and written off?

If it is out of the SOL period, they can't legally collect on it. If they come up on your credit report, you need to dispute that through the credit bureaus.

Hi Tina

Welcome aboard!

collection agencies can make their attempts on unpaid accounts. These accounts might be out of the SOL period or out of the 7 years reporting time. You should be aware about the statues and the FCRA laws so that you can know how to deal with them and do not make a payment. Besides, on these occasions, a collector must not touch your credit file. They can only view it if they have a valid purpose. If they try to enter anything negative, dispute with them or get the bureau's attention.

Regards
Roxette

Gilberto, you have landed in a forum discussing about the issues with Palisades. Get in touch with their customer care at

(800) 873-5648
(866) 230-8075

Send a letter to the CA to update your account with the credit bureau. They must notify the original company to update this account. It usually takes 30 days before the update is reflected in your credit file.

I also have a new addition to my credit report with palisades for an account with at&t that was charged after it was closed. At&t sent me a letter stating that I did not owe that money and that they would take care of it. Now, 3 years later, I have this $700 charge from At&t through Palisades(the first time they wrongly charged my closed account it was only for $200). Where did the $700 come from and how do I take care of this now, since I can't get in touch with At&t??

This is your triumph card, keep it safely. If the collection agency continue calling you, send copy of that letter and ask them not to contact you any more. If it does not stop them, report to the FTC, BBB and AG's office. Keep us posted.

Default I'm thoroughly confused!!

Hi! I also have a claim through Palisades. I purchased a tv from best buy in November of 2004 with 12 months interest free on the Best Buy credit card. However, when I called to make a payment last summer (which was only 6-7 months into my supposedly 12 months free), I was told that my account was sold to Palasides and I was to make payments there. No one can explain to me why it was sold... and why it immediately showed up on my credit report - prior to the 12 months being up. Either way, I ended up making some substantial payments and am wondering now after reading everyones postings, did I do the right thing? And to boot, NOW, I have a company calling me called First Financial Asset Management, and when I questioned them on why they were calling and why it wasn't Palisades that was calling... they told me that they were in fact Palisades... but why is that not part of the company name? Plus, the phone numbers are totally different. This First Financial Group was telling me the other night that they need my bank account number to make automatic withdrawls to pay my balance, and if I didn't give it to them, than I would be taken to court by not showing any means to pay. Obviously, I didn't give them anything, cause I don't know who the heck they are! UGH!!! This is so frustrating, I'm so lost, and so confused!!! Anyone have any insight on where I go from here? Thanks!
AK

Ak,

First thing first, third party collection agencies should send debt validation. So mail them a request for validation. If they can validate the debt satisfactory then only you need to pay it. Keep us posted.

BTW, send it via CMRRR and keep the copies of your letter and the return stub as well.

Default Pallisades

They started out as Encore Receivable Management, Then leaving messages on answering machine number going back to NCO Financials, Then Pallisades, Now Pressler and Pressler counselors at Law. This has been over the course of 2 1/2 years. They have tried all the tricks e-1 speaks of. When disputed they change to another company. I believe they are the same person. Now they have Lawyers Stating: Important Notification.
This is to notify you that your delinquent acct which was previously owed to AT&T Wireless has been Purchased by Palisades Collection, L.L.C. and has been placed with the Law Firm of Pressler and Pressler for collection.

At this time, no attorney with this firm has personally reviewed the particular circumstances of your account. etc., etc.,

Note: Account numbers changed, and amount owed, from 942, reported by Encore now it says 1118.77.

They are just trying to make contact.
Thanks for they post I've always ignored phone calls and all. I will right a letter to dispute and take it from there.

Be careful though, after you get the letter from the lawyer stating 'at this time no attorney with this firm has personally reviewed the particular circumstances of your account...' you might get one more letter from them and then a summons at your front door. I definitely wouldn't ignore it. go ahead and send in your validation request but I thought at this point all you're going to receive is a statement of the last six payments you made on the account. If the account is in fact yours. this is experience speaking....been there done that.
