For proper civil procedure they would need to sue you in the district which you currently reside in. If they do then you have your defense, if they don't serve you and win you can have it vacated for improper service. If they try to sue you outside your county or state you can dismiss it for improper venue.

I don't think your disability can be touched, but certain debt may be (like federal debts, child support). The 7 year old debt might be out of SOL, what state are you in?

Goto whatever lawsuits you have, don't just not show up! Use the discovery process to demand validation, and if they can't provide it, you can get those cases dismissed.

Well at least I'm not alone, I was an AT&T employee now retired and back when there was AT&T wireless I was offered an employee discount. When I called to get the discount I asked if it would renew a new contract I was told "no" Well this is about 6 to 7 years ago. I ask for validation and my so called debt I guess gets sold to a different agency Palisades is my 4th agency to deal with on this. They are telling me since I can't talk to anyone at AT&T Wireless (because they don't exist) I can't get this cleared off my CR which they have already dinged me. Boy am I fighting mad...... Looking into what to do about this or if this is even leagal

I would suggest sending them a debt validation letter (you can find a template via my signature link, be sure to send the enclosure with it) send it to them certified mail, return receipt requested. Once they receive it they will have to provide you with the requested validation and until that time they must cease all collection activity. Give them about a month and if they have not provided you with proper validation (generally consisting of documents from the original creditor) then you should dispute the items on your credit report for this account, if they cannot validate it with you they shouldn't be able to validate it with the credit reporting agencies.

I posted about a month ago regarding a judgment entered against me by Palisades. I did not receive any notification to appear to any type of court date in this matter. The first correspondence received from Palisades/Pressler & Pressler was a letter including what I now understand are interrogatories.

I filed to Vacate judgment based on the lack of proper service. Palisades is taking me to court to block the motion. Is there anything I can do in the meantime? Has anyone gone to court in this type of situation?

After the sheriff served levy papers a few weeks ago, I discovered the account was from AT&T for approximately 380.00 with random attorney and court fees added on for another 100.00. I requested the paperwork from the court and the proof supplied are the first three pages of a 12 page random statement. I had AT&T at one time, it is pages of a random bill from months before I canceled it. To my knowledge, I do not have an outstanding bill with them.
Are three pages of a 12 page random bill adequate proof for a judgment? It is not itemized, just my name and a total amount due. Should I file an answer challenging the debt?

I am at a bit of a loss here, any help is greatly appreciated.
