Welcome to the community T. Ray. I would suggest sending them a debt validation letter to force them to give you all the information on this second account (you can find a good template via my signature link, be sure to send the enclosure) send it certified mail, return receipt requested. Give them a few weeks to give them the chance to validate then dispute it with the credit reporting agencies.

i dont know how these people continually get away with the things they do...the bill they r suing us over is actually 7 years old. and they are trying to sue us for a may and july bill that doesnt exist because we moved from the address in march 2002.

havent heard anything about any phone bill since 2001. then we tried to get phone service where we r now and in nov of 2007 we get a phone call after 10 pm. told them to stop calling and said the so called debt was false. did not hear anyting til april of 08. now they r trying to sue us for this matter and set a court date for july 10th 08.

It is a time barred debt as the SOL in New Jersey is 6 years. Is it small claims court they are suing you in? I suggest calling the court house and ask them if it is indeed a real court case by providing them with the docket number. Some of these Junk Debt Buyers will use fake court papers to get you to pay. It is illegal if they do.

If they called you after 9:00 pm that can be up to a $1,000 violation and you can sue them in court. Depending on your states Civil Rules Of Procedure, You may be entitled to treble damages. DO NOT talk to the debt collector on the phone, they will try to trick you. If they did in fact file a false court document, hold on to it as that is also breaking the law.

Call the court house first though and ask them what you need to do to respond. It may help to note to them it is time barred if it is in fact over 6 years old.

Aloha,
This company is fraudulent. I had never even had and ATT phone or Service and I have lived in Hawaii for 15 years. Somehow I found this company on my credit report stating that i owed them about 90 dollars. I figured that it must have been someone opening an account inmy name. I tried to get to the bottom of it for a long time. I never had a bill form ATT or anyone... After many months of calls I finally decided to just pay them anyway just to get my credit report clean.
Now one year later they still have me in a key derogatory on my credit report.
It is nearly impossible to get these F#@$#ers out of your credit file.

they try to make people pay for a debt that isnt theirs. i had a 1300 dollar bill they sent me saying is mine and it had 2 addresses that i have never lived in and a state i never lived at!!! i filed a police report and papers they sent me to file and 2 years later they sent me a paper showing my name and addresses i never lived at and said its validated!!! i already diputed it with the crb and they took it out of my credit reports and put a fraud alert but these idiots still try to say a fraudulent debt is mine!! looked at the dates and sent them a letter stating its a timed barred debt and not to waste my time with it ill go to court and fight it everytime. im thinking i should complain to my state ag to state how they are treating people of identity theft!

NEVER give them your SS #. Did they respond to you in writing?

I am trying to deal with Palisades also. My account was with Verizon Home Phone. I paid it off with another agency before so I faxed them a copy of the paid in full receipt. They told me that it was a different account number than what they have. I requested a explanation of bill and that was a month ago. No luck with receiving that yet. My question is do I need to contact Verizon. I don't understand how you can have two bills at the same time. I don't have an account number from Pallisades at all. The dates are the same for the "different" accounts. They also have posted it in my CR three different times and it shows up as three accounts with the same information on them. I am at a loss of what to do next. Thanks Amanda

I have been getting calls from FMS INC about a debt that they say I owe to AT&T. I called AT&T about it and they have no record of me and the account number given to me from FMS is in someone elses name. Fms says they are collecting for Palisades collection and I haven't tried to get ahold of them yet. The lady from AT&T talked to a person from FMS while I was on the phone and explained that they had no record of me in their system. She asked the person from FMS what we could do to resolve this and the person from FMS said if I don't take care of it, I will ruin my credit. She was very rude and of no help. Basically, I am going thru FMS to pay Palisades Collections and I would like to have any advice on which agency I need to write a letter to. Can anyone give me any advice?

Thank You,
Lonny

I got served yesterday from parisades collections. This is the first time I have gotten anything from them.I had a dept with Heiligmeyers of $1,626.14 I had sent in my payment to Allied Interstate.I never got anything from them saying it was paidoff, now a 1yr 3 mths later i get something from Palisades for the same amount. How do you win with these people?
I called the lawyer that had me served and explained to them that I had already paid this, she told me that I would have to get a letter from Allied stating that the account has been paid..(I have been trying to get something from Allied for a year, but no luck) I told her that I had the reciept from the Western Union from when I paid Allied..They told me that was'nt enough proof....
Does anyone have any advice or do I need to get a lawyer??

Thanks,Richard
