The only thing is, their favorite MO is to sewer serve, going straight for the default. On any correspondence, it is very helpful to the CMRRR# ON THE LETTER. Not only do you have a reference, it can also save your behind. They tried to sewer serve my husband at a non-existent address (through Wolpoff), even though there were four CMRRR's sent/signed for. This was proof that they deliberately attempted sewer service and the case was dismissed.

Also, if you see a hard inquiry from any "law firms", immediately send a "permissible purpose" letter, also putting the CMRRR # on the letter. As above, this will save your behind if they sewer serve and go for the default. Having proof that they had a correct addres could make any default get vacated.

i got a letter from palisades a year ago and than i asked for validation of debt. six months later they sent it. I am paying a settlement amount now to get it over with but if you ask them for validation for debt they will send it because the companies send them the info and than they collect the debt. so believe me it's valid you probably just dont remember the bill because its from so long ago.

I tried sending a letter of validation to the Wisconson address and it came back as non-deliverable. Which address do I use? I have never received anything in the mail from them and I refuse to call and give my SS# in order to talk to them.

Palisades Collection, LLC placed a lein at the court house for something I have no idea what for? I never had an AT&T account and/or Cingular I have no idea what this if for and can't get it off of my credit cause it's a lein at the court house. Not quite sure what to do at this point, the dollar amount is under $500 too, very puzzling to me as to why they would spend more money to place a lein then the debt was even if it were a valid debt?

Anna in LV: The went and got a default judgement against you. You need to contact the courthouse and find the method of service, then get it vacated do to improper service. These people are known to pull this on people. I would also look into sueing them for seeking judgement on an account that was not yours!

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MY LOCAL SHERRIFF'S OFFICE 2 DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS THREATENING TO COME TO MY JOB OR COME TO MY HOME AND COLLECT PERSONAL PROPERTY IN ORDER TO SETTLE A DEBT CLAIM FILED BY PALISADES COLLECTIONS. THEY HAVE SENT THE SHERRIFF'S OFFICERS TO MY HOME TWICE FOR credit card debt ORIGINALLY OPENED WITH HSBC BANK IN THE AMOUNT OF 1,073.00. I HAVE UNTIL 1/5/09 TO ARRANGE SOME KIND OF SETTLEMENT OR RISK THE EMBARRASSMENT OF AN OFFICER COMING TO MY HOME OR EVEN WORSE MY JOB!! WHAT IN THE WORLD SHOULD I DO WHEN I DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS AVAILABLE?

For more than 4 months I have been receiving calls at all times of the day and many times in a day from Palisades. The message is very vague: "This is not a sales call. Please call etc etc. Today the robocall indicated it was for debt collection. To my knowledge, I do not owe any money and am reluctant to give them my SSN. How can I find out what they want & why they are calling me?

Palisades is also Powersafe. They are invovled in a class action lawsuit for harassment and intimidation for collecting on debts that have expired (out of statue of limitations) or even paid off by another debt collector who neglected to clear their record so they could re-sell the debt.

THIS IS ILLEGAL.

Everything about this company is ILLEGAL. Contact the Federal Trade Commision on-line and file a complaint. It is simple

bad lot... that's an understatment. do not contact report to federal trade commission as they re guilty of harrassment to collect on non-collectible (paid off or way too old) debt.
