When they were informed of the ruling, they actually said "All that means is we can't take you to court". These people are class A scumbags. Their customer service people don't care and don't listen.
They are looking for us to pay them something to make the case go away, even after losing in court, which I think is harrassment and blackmail.
I had the same experience. So it is still on my credit report, and I haven't a clue what to do.

Palisades is not Pressler & Pressler they are a company that Palisades out sources to collect for them, I know this because I work for Palisades in the Bethlehem office before they came and laid us off and kept the NJ office open.

Does anyone know the official website name? I have been contacted via telephone
messages by an old gentleman claiming they have a debt I have to pay.
Gee, don't have any debts, but do have an extremely high credit rating by the 3 top
agencies. when calling on the weekend, they give a website address, but the girl's voice is muffled and I cannot get it.

Thanks for your help.
All these poor people getting slammed for something they probably don't know about,
we need to fight this abuse!

I am having the same problem with palisades and several others because of id theft and i caught the people--held them at gun point. There were 14 and three states running this game. Several families were victimized. I believe now if we all would write to the ftc who has my case or the federal attorney general--since this is over several state lines and some by mail then they might take action. Even if your case was settled--write about these people--it's election year. It's time we band together and stand together and go at this all as one. I am doing my part---hope you will too!

I recently has a debt collection against me from Palisades collection which i dont owe any money to any company. When I called in, they asked for my ssn and I gave to they. Because they say they will not able to give me any information without my SSN.

I just received a letter from Palisades for a credit card debt paid over 8 years ago! I even faxed them a copy of the check that showed I paid them off. In fact, my most recent (2 months ago) CR didn't show any collections...my credit score was 791! Unfortunately, since the debt was that old & I THOUGHT it was squared away, I no longer have the file. I wanted to research more information before I called them and blew my lid!

Roxette...what did you mean when you say "Do not give the strong points that you have for disputing this item." I want some ammunition before I call them. If you would be so kind as to email me to let me know what all this means, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks so much...Kelly

I gotta letter today from Palisades regarding a 2000.00 bill I paid off 8 years ago! At the time, they kept on about the matter until I faxed them a check! Unfortunately, since it's been over 8 years, I no longer have the file. Bummer. A recent CR showed NO debt related to anything of thids nature and reflected a score of 791. My guess is the recent inquiry when I built a new house is how they came to find me again. So, I was just doing a little research before I called them & blew my lid.

Roxette, I was wondering what you meant by "Do not give the strong points that you have for disputing this item." I'm unsure what to do at this point and didn't want to call them to give them more ammo!

If you could, please email me about what my next steps should be (if you know). I'd REALLY appreciate it!

Thanks...Kelly

We also rec'd a letter from this company--looking for a debt that was paid off 10 years ago! (For some reason, the amount had ballooned up 50%). Hubby called the toll-free # and told them he had copies of bank checks & letters from Citibank stating the accts were paid in full in 2000. Copies were sent certified mail, return receipt, along with a letter from him stating he did not owe this money. We will see if further action is needed (AG office,BBB,etc.). I'd like to know how Palisades got the info in the first place (nothing on credit reports at all).

I just received one of these also. I had credit card problems about 13 years ago, but I thought that I had everything cleared up. I am wondering how they can do anything since the statute of limitations was up at least 7 years ago. I feel like this is extortion. I'm wondering if my congressmen or senator's office could help. I really don't want to have to hire a lawyer, but these people are not getting one cent from me.

I think if these folks make any more collection attempts, we'll be complaining to our state AG, NJ state AG & the FTC. Hopefully we won't have to get a lawyer, but if we do, we'll look for a consumer advocate (NACA). They should not be allowed to harrass innocent people!

If they got a judgment against you without your knowledge then you should immediately contact the court about getting it vacated for improper service.

SOL for New Jersey is 6 years....so it is up.
