They called me about a past due with a payday loan. They would not give me an address nor a fax number. They would not give me any information and threatened to contact my employer because I used the company's email to retrieve a payday loan. They said this was fraud and they would take papers out on me by the end of the day if I did not wire them the money. Is this legal

You are not the only one who has been called by this company. Read the entire thread on them and know their fraudulent activities.

Know your rights. Use the fdcpa law because it is a powerful weapon used to prove a legal debt.

If the company is doing collections, it should be forced to give you the validation details when you have requested for it. Don't get tensed of their threats. They just can't do anything legal as they are the ones violating the laws.

Show your confidence when you talk to them next time. Do not get intimidated. If they still continue their illegal activities, complain against them at the FTC, BBB as well as the attorney general office in your state. They must stop or they need to go through legal actions

thanks ben, but they will not give me an address, or fax number nor will they send me validation of a debt. She wanted to speak to my supervisor and I would not let her. I am not sending any money until they give me more information and I cannot write them until I get more information. Do you know their address or fax or something..

ICWS is making regular threats to many others in the most illegal form. They are not following the legal laws pertaining to debt collection procedure.

Use your federal rights and ask ICWS to send you the debt validation of this account in writing. You have the rights to refuse payment until you have been served with proper details.

ICWS won't be able to give you the required details because they don't have any such info. Cover your base by sending them a certified letter with return receipt requested. Once they have received this letter and fail to give the details, you have proof to defend yourself if the matter is taken to the court. But I am pretty confirmed that this company won't take the matter to the court because many complaints are already filed against them at the FTC, BBB as well as the state attorney general office.

You should also put your complaints at all the necessary places and force the bureaus to take strict actions against this company.
