I am moving to T&C to assist with my PD loans and a few other bills which I am going to consolidate. However, I am currently using Debtscape (I only have one credit card with them left to pay off). I tried e-mailing them and informed them that I wanted to release them from consolidating the remaining credit card debt. They have not responded (which is not surprising...the place has so many complaints against them). I plan on having T&C take over that remaining credit card that Debtscape is currently in control of. Any ideas?

Ok, well I called them and they actually had no problems with me terminating my contract with them. Surprisingly, they wished me congrats on getting down to only one credit card payment with them. I guess they did not have a choice to address the matter once I got them on the phone. However, e-mails to them don't seem to work.

Now that the consolidation company has terminated your contract with them, I think you should pay off this single debt on your own. Analyze your budgeting skills and exercise them in paying off the debt. You will learn valuable tips to save money and take control of your finance.

Give a try at least so that you can learn from the experience. If you can't manage, of course, there is professional help that can be taken anytime

I have a question about my girlfriends past debt. We were hooking up a phone line with verizon and I called to see when it would be turned on and they said there is a balance on the acount of 240 dollars which she didn't remember, but it was at an address she lived at 3 years ago and her & roommate there were always having financial problems.
Anyway, the lady gave me the agency they sold the debt to and said she would have to pay off that balance to them before we could get the phones turned on. I said forget it and put it under my name instead.
My question is...how come that isn't on her credit report. She recently got a copy because she was applying for a loan and there was NOTHING about verizon or the company that is collecting the debt. Do some debt collectors NOT report to Credit Report companies? Just wondering...anyone have any thoughts?

shopaholic5, the creditors or debt collectors can report consumers' accounts to the CRA whenever they want to. If the collectors have not hit your credit report till now, you should immediately make payment arrangements with your creditors.
Remember, accounts in collection are negative remarks and will stay in your file for 7 years as per the FCRA laws. If you pay the debt directly to your creditors, you will prevent your file from reporting collections. If the creditor has sold the debt to the collection agency, then you will have to deal with them only.

Thanks David. I thought that debt was automatically reported, but I guess they can take as long as they want as long as its not over a certain amount of years.
