Its been a tough month. Last month I had written about my troubles with SonicPayday in the other thread. Well, I did pay them. Sent in a Western Union and they closed the case.
In so doing it has been a very hard month and I have been very tempted lately to get a payday loan to see me through. Tempted but still holding strong. All I have to do is make it to March 15 when I will get a garn-free check ( from a seperate case ) plus an extra year end bonus. So on March 15 I will get more than enough to get everything caught up and start living life again.
Everything is down to the wire. If there ever was a time to get a payday loan it would be now but I am not going to do it. My Apartment is even suing me for non-payment of rent; However they are claiming I am 2 months behind instead of only one. Luckly I still have the receipt for last month ( I really am only 3 weeks behind as of now ) so I should be ok there. Just offer partial payment for this month and promise to get caught up on March 15. Its going to be a huge check but seems to be diminishing fast with all the obligations.
Thought I would post this to help inspire someone else who has gone through recent payday loan hardship to not get back on the hamster wheel.

Glynnie,
I'm sure everything will turn out fine for you over the next few weeks. Payday loans are not worth the extra trouble. I'm sure you've learned that lesson by now. I know I have. It's when I was behind on bills that I got the first payday loan, that only led to the many that I have now that I am trying to pay off.

Glynnie11,
It seems that you are very organized and you maintain a clean documentation. Since you have the rent-receipt of last month, they cannot do much harm to you. Probably they will accept your proposal and extend the time up to March 15.
But I can see that the check you are going to receive on March 15 is ready to vanish very fast. This check needs a good planning. You have got a chance to turn around on your feet. You should utilize the money properly and I know you will do it.

That's definitely a noble thought. I appreciate it

Thanks for the kind words. Actually they did find my rent receipt for last month and will accept partial payment for this month. I just have to appear in court to work it out.
It got to the point last week when I actually applied for a loan with PayDayOK and was all set to sign the loan agreement. Then in a moment of clarity it hit me "What in the heck am I doing". Starting thinking about all the fees and how long it would take to pay it off.
I did not sign. Even called them and told them that I did not want it. Unfortunatly this place now has my checking account from the application.

Glynnie,
You should be cautious I think. Contact your bank and ask them not to allow this place to hit your account. You never know if they have a bad intention or not. Keep us posted.

It's hard to not do the payday loan thing, I know. Mine are about paid off and I've caught myself a few times almost doing it.

Stan - That would be a good idea. Perhaps I can even get all ACH debits/creidts blocked no matter what. I have a debit card so there is no need for me to ever have something auto-deducted from my account.
BTW - I am not very organized. Sheer luck that I paid with a Certified check and kept the receipt.
jd - have to remain strong. Its very easy to declare quitting something but things are not that easy. Its something you have to work on not doing. Just remember how awfull it was to lose paychecks.

Glynnie,
I'm glad to hear things are working out in the rent situation. It's almost March so just hold on. Things will turn around for you soon. I've gone without payday loans for almost three months now. I have to admit that I've been tempted but I just have to remind myself the trouble that they've caused me. We'll both be in better financial shape soon.

Hi Mishele. Yes it is amazing how we can still be tempted after all this. I make it a point to check in here everyday as it does keep me grounded. Without this forum I most likely would have taken out more loans. I suppose this is what support groups are all about.
It does look like the rent thing will be taken care of. I just have to be humiliated in court 1st. Point is even if I was kicked out I am getting full non-payday loan checks so I would have the resources to check into a short stay until finding another place.
Things cannot get that bad along as you do not have to pay all that payday loan interest.

Well its done. Went to court today and before it started their lawyer called me out for a backroom deal. They offered to give me an extra 10 days and I countered with ( yes you guessed it ) March 15. So I have 15 days to get my rent caught up.
They did not even ask for partial payment so its a good thing I did not get one of those awful payday loans as it would have been for nothing.
The court was crowded so I was relieved to not have to face the judge. Sitting there preparing for the shame. So overall I am happy with the result.

Great news!!! I am very happy for you. Facing the judge would have been embarassing I guess with all those people there. And good thing you didn't get that loan!!! Definitely a nice outcome.

Mary - I actually did not apply for any loans just glad that I didn't because I was tempted.
Mishele/Jesse. You will be surprised how reasonable regular creditors are to deal with as long as you explain the situation. Like with this rent thing. Its an expensive place and they would not gain by kicking me out. It was simply best for both parties to settle on an arrangement.
