I'm sure you all are tired of me by now, but I'm just so frustrated with all this...today I got a call from Cash Transfer Centers, aka Sonic/PRL/Northway saying that they are going to call my employer. I live in North Carolina, and I know that they are not licensed here, but what exactly does that mean? I told them that and they laughed at me. I tried to keep my cool, but we still ended up shouting at each other. They won't take any partial payments, so I feel like my back is up against the wall. I don't want to lose my job over this. Can they take me to court? Any advise will be greatly aprreciated.

payday lending is illegal in north carolina. report them to the AG. NC has been suing the pants off from companies like this. Check your state banking website for the list of lawsuits.

Immediately send them a wage revocation letter cmrrr and also give a copy of the wage revocation letter to your employer. Sonic has a twisted way of thinking. They think they are untouchable. Just remember we will have the last laugh at the payday loan industry.

Unfortunately, some PDL's are apparently legal in Texas, but how do I find out if a specific lender is licensed to lend in Texas or if they are violating any Texas laws regarding PDL's?

Do not let Sonic or cash transfer scare you in any way. They act smug but they have no legal ground to stand on. Follow the advice in the previous posts and you will be fine. They forgave my debt because I did have legal grounds to sue them, on more than one violation. They are not licensed and more states are cracking down on this. Use your state law to your advantage. Be persistent with this company and don't let them try to garnish your wages. Also, keep everything documented and you will be fine.

OK, after my 4th phone call with them today (Cash Transfer Centers)...I tried to get their address, first of all it's an international address, I guess, and the lady gave it to me so fast, I don't think I wrote it down correctly...so, if someone gets it could you please PM me with it...or post it if possible
