I am an ex-collector for this firm, and i thought i was working for an upstanding company! WRONG! these people are rotten and anyone that gives them any info regarding their accounts(banking) is putting theirselves at risk of this so-called law firm cleaning them out. when i left, i thought i had actually done some good and helped a few people to improve their credit situation. weeks after i left, i found out that burgess was going under and tried to take withdrawals from several accounts that payment plans were agreed upon, and they tried to take out the balances in full...i felt horrible for these people because i actually tried to work out comfortable arrangments to help them repay their debts in a way that was easy for them. never admit to a debt...require validation of the debt before ANYTHING is discussed! and always always get a settlement if you decide to pay, but get the terms in writing before you set up or send payments!! these places will settle for less than 50%! ive authorized balances down to as little as 23% so keep at em, they WILL go lower, no matter what they say...worse case, hang up and give them a few weeks to stew, then call back and DEMAND a settlement!! Good Luck!!

This company is a scam. Do not pay them any money and seek legal advice if they threaten you. They often call about debts that you either a) don't own or b) are beyond the statute of limitations. They get these after other companies no longer want them or can't collect them because the statute has expired. Document everything and sue them for a few thousand dollars very easily in a quick settlement. Put these con artists out of business.

don''t feel bad we had same problem agreed to make arrangements they agree to send paper work. they got money we got no paper work on the 3rd installment we noticed the back draft was going to someone other than burgess. when we caalled they told us they had sold our collection to another group- when i called them all i could get was a recording an no one would call back so we closed acct and opened another.
no they have sold to someone else and said since we closed acct that are going to sue us for "check fruad" the company called "national processing". they did offer to call on our behalf and see if new agency would be willing to work with us other wise we now owe2500.00 pluse whatever goes along with criminal charges of check fraud. spoke with check fraud person and he said i could take them to court for illegal practice, threats and something else.

here's the thing -- even if somebody owes a debt ... who is the caller? have you ever heard of them before? how do you know they are not just crooks? I mean, if you have a credit account with First National Bank, and First National Bank says, we want you to deal with Joe Smith at a particular contact point, that's one thing; but if Tom Brown calls you ... who is he? you don't him from Adam -- I've gotten spam email from people claiming to be affiliated with banks I've done business with, where it was clear the email was a complete fraud; I've gotten letters in the mail offering to settle an account, citing an account number, where I checked and that account number did not correspond to any account I had

There is one thing you really lack," my friend told me. I had just shown him a website project I'm working on. As the owner of a large cleaning firm, my friend took an intense interest in my business model."What is it?" I asked, sure he was going to say something about my overall site design or the logo that I realized suddenly, as I reexamined it, was a bit tacky."Relationships," he said. "If you want to grow this website business of yours, you need to get out there and build relationships with real people." He looked thoughtfully at the site for a moment. "This is really good," he said. "But in all my twenty years in business, one thing has never changed - real business is built on making connections with people." He went on to describe how he gets clients from his church, his exercise club, and - especially - from satisfied customers. "You need to make that happen here.""That sounds great," I said, a bit confused. "But your business is in the real world. I mean, you clean buildings. Mine is in cyberspace. What's the connection?"He smiled. "Now that I know you build websites, I will put a link to your website from mine. Then you put a link to mine from yours. I know you. I trust you. My friends will too, once they know I do."In the Internet world, we hear a lot about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and backlinks. If you want Google, Bing, and Yahoo! to notice your site, you must take steps to make them. Part of that process is getting links to your site from other sites. The more sites that mention yours and link into it, the higher it goes in the search engine rankings. And in the Internet, that is better than gold. Research proves that when most people are looking for product, they almost always buy from the first ten search engine results. So if you show up on page fifteen, you pretty much don't show at all.So back to my friend's comment. How can you build relationships and get links to your site? As I discovered, many of my friends and associates have websites - and all of them have been glad to link me. Even my church did. Maybe you have a dynamic site. How about loosening the rules? Instead of forcing people to sign up to comment or vote in polls, put a CAPTCHA on the form. People appreciate website administrators trusting them, and they will respond by mentioning the site.Always be on the lookout for ways to encourage community. Add other people's pages to your site links. The more backs you scratch, the more people will visit your site.

Contact an attorney that handles FDCPA (Fair Deebt Collection Practices Act) cases. You can go to www.legalehelpers.com, as they handle them. Burgess is a scumbag, and his company did most if not all of the same things people mentioned above. After filing my case against them, I received $5500 (60% for me 40% for lawyers) in a settlement, and the debt was wiped clean. This company has predatory techniques, THERE IS A WAY TO FIGHT BACK!!!
