I have requested they stop calling me at work and they continue to do it on a daily basis? Has anyone found a way to make them stop? I'm at my wit's end. Does anyone have a fax number for them. Maybe if I fax a do not call me letter they will stop.

The only way to get them to quit calling is send them a cease and desist by certified mail with return receipt and also fax it to them. That way if they keep persisting you have proof of sending the c&d and faxing it.

A sample cease and desist letter is attached in the link below.

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/letters/sample9.html

Tailor this letter according to your specific situation and send it through certified mail. The company is bound by federal laws after receiving this letter from you. If they call, it will result a violation and you can take legal actions against them.

You can cover your base by recording the phone calls. Check the state laws before you start recording the calls. In some states, you can do it secretly and in the other states, you have to take the consent of the other party. Make sure that you are aware of the laws in your state. Verify it with the local AG's office. Maintain a log file of the date and time when the call is placed to you. This will back up your case strongly and you will be able to sue the company for each violation.

Did you put it in writing???? As the others pointed out here, you have to put it in writing. Doing so over the phone is not good enough and many ignore and keep calling. (however the more respectable agencies will stop when you ask over the phone-but most will not). legally, it has to be done in writing. As said, it has to be certified/return receipt as your proof, if anything should come up later on. Very Happy Shirley

I know how rude these people can be. I had my first call from them on Friday at my job. The woman started shouting at me. I faxed a cease and desist letter to them and I need to send it via certified mail.

When they shout at you at work, just depress two or three key on the dial pad and the incessant droning of the keys will compel them to give up. Either that or they can just go deaf. Their choice, assheads!

It doesn't have to end there! Stand up for yourself at home too! Get a police whistle or one of those blowhorns they use at basketball games. When they call at home, put on ear protection, and then deafen those clowns with a shockingly loud high-pitched blast! Laugh heartily as you hear them stammering over the phone trying to regain their equilibrium. Laugh harder when they go "god DAMMIT!"

When all the collection agencies were calling, I would set up the fax machine to pick up after 3 rings and that seemed to work also.

Fax machines emit a dull hum compared to a police whistle or blowhorn! You have to admit, they're more fun, too!
Here's an idea! hold the phone up to a fully inflated whoopie cushion and press down real hard! Twisted Evil
