I have several cash advances that are leaving me in a bind. i cannot afford to pay anymore. I thought of switching my checking acct number so they cannot draft anymore and just make monthly payments to them

Welcome to the forums. Now that you are closing your checking account, some time later, the loan companies will be contacting you.
Try to save some portion of your money each month and contribute towards the debt account. It will be more than helpful to follow a planned budget.

hey Lindie, welcome to the forums. Several of us here are in the same situation as you. I closed my account as well and the companies still contacted me. As roxette suggested, pay a little each month to each company. In no time, you will have paid them all off. Good luck!
