Hey everyone, I wanted to let you know I am still around. Had a little bit of personal crisis, plus hubby came home after being away for several weeks.
I'll try to catch some of you in chat tonight.

Rio Resources etc lawsuit- the attorney I spoke with locally told me in person that he has not handled a class action type suit before, and felt we needed someone with some experience. I'm waiting on call backs from some large firms that have a lot of expertise, some even have offices in multiple states, to see if anyone is interested in representing us.

Right now, while I'm doing that background research, anyone that has borrowed from Rio under any of the names, and is interested in contacting me, please pm me about it. I know that once an attorney takes the case, they will want detailed information. Amounts borrowed, how much was repaid, any information about the aggressive collection practices etc would all be helpful.

Please do let us know when you need any kind of financial assistance in filing a case against the bad collection agencies. We are ready to fund the charges of the lawsuit for the community. Please keep us informed in this matter Smile

The first firms that I contacted, I forgot to give hint that there could be some financial assistance during the suit. The 3rd firm I did give them that info, and it made the rep seem more interested.

I'll keep everyone posted. Personally, more than anything else I would like to see the web around Rio unraveled, and hopefully put a damper on their business.

I agree with you. Most of the collectors are doing illegal business because they always find themselves strongly placed over the consumers. Of course, they are not worried about the federal laws restricting them from such actions. Meanwhile, the government also won't take legal actions unless large number of complaints has been received by them for a specific company. In some cases, the CAs take that into consideration while using unfair means. Ultimately, the innocent people are victimized because they either lack money of filing the case and the authorities fail to take speedy actions.

At this situation, I am happy to be in this website offering the community help. The expenses of the lawsuit will be covered as Denny said.

This is my open suggestion for all who are victimized by Rio Resources. Get all your account details with proof of the deceptive collection activities of Rio Resources and form a group here. Set4sail is already looking for an attorney for filing a class action lawsuit. I have started imagining that summons have been sent by our lawyer to Rio Resources for a court hearing.
