I am happy I found this thread about RJM. They sent a letter that said "WE are your new creditor". It is for a Corinthian College account that they "so called" purchased. I have been very busy and didn't have a chance to respond to their first letter, then, recently a pulled a copy of my credit report and sure enough(they are on it) $2741.00 I need help!! please give me some friendly advice,

Sky, has this company verified in writing that that they have purchased the debt from the previous company? If this debt is legitimate, you will like to pay if off and improve your credit.

I just got one & was looking for the company. They are trying to collect money from me for books ordered from a book club that I haven't belonged to in more than 30 years.

Tell them the SOL is over hence they should not waste your and their time by asking money. Send the letter certified.

Default Did they delete

Fuss722, did they DELETE the record? I only want to pay the $56 I owe if they will DELETE it from my credit report, not just mark it "paid collection," which I understand is not worth much.

Default They have committed it in writing!

Guess what...I called them and asked if they would DELETE the item if I paid it in full. And believe it or not...they agreed to it, and sent me a letter confirming that when the payment is received, they will DELETE it entirely. There's even a checkbox on the return portion that says "Please delete this from my credit file."

It sounds like they are at least willing to work with you if you contact them...but the proof will be in the pudding.

I'll keep you posted after I send the payment and watch to see if it really does come off!

Junk debt purchaser. Buys accounts past statute of limitations for legal collections. They generally can't force you to pay or sue you or report to credit agencys. Can only generaly make you pay if you agree to credit card, make payment etc, which restarts statute of limitations. You screwed yourself.

Default RJM tryin to collect from 4 years ago

I recieved a letter from RJM Acquisitions the other day. This was from a debt about 4 years ago that had been closed by another creditor.

Any suggestions? I cannot pay this and refuse to under my personal circumstances...

sincerely,
Branden

BT, you need to check the last payment date on your account and confirm whether it is still with the SOL period. If the statutes have expired, you can legally refuse to pay the account but it will be still reported in your credit file by the company. First verify the SOL of this debt.

Most States have a 7 year statute of limitations on Old Debts. After 7 years, companies can no longer collect. NY is 6 years. If they are trying to collect an old debt you simply need to send them a letter saying that it is no longer valid, it is past the point of collection and to never contact you again. You have rights and just because they send a letter and back-it up with valid debt data doesn't mean you have to pay it.

Default RJM ACQ LLC

Well I found RJM on my credit for $154. I have no other info at all on there. Are they a legit company??? I am reading all sorts of things about this company and that they sometimes even steal the info from a credit report. Not sure how true that is or not, but I would definately like to know more.

I am trying to clean up my credit and I don't want to pay the wrong person.

The next step was to just find out who the original creditor was and send the payment directly to them. I know it may take awhile before they get it, but it should definately get into the right hands, right???

Thanks
Tiffany

Default RJM Fraud

I just recieved a letter yesterday from RJM Acquisitions Funding LLC stating I owed them or bought this debt from Fingerhut. I have NEVER ordered anything from fingerhut so this is bogus. They better expect to recieve a nasty phone call from me bout 8am ET. I work 3rd and have been researching all night and have found that RJM has dont this to MANY people. I will get this resolved if its the last thing I do. For me to work so hard for my credit and for them to destroy it. I wont let it happen. They wont ever recieve a single dime from me after seeing what they have done to soo many people. Just wanted to voice my opinion on this.
