Back during 2004 and 2005, Compass Bank used to sell their accounts that were overdrawn to RJM Acquisitions for collection.

My account had been overdrawn for a couple of weeks while I went out of town. I cleared the overdraft upon my return. Somehow, RJM still got a hold of my account (Compass says they never sold it since I'm still a customer). Every few months I would get a letter from RJM to pay up. I would take the letter to the bank, they would contact RJM, and everything would be fine for a few months.

Now, I'm getting contacted by Island National Group, saying RJM sold my account to them for collection. Here we go again!

P.S.: Compass hasn't used RJM since 2006.

Just received in the mail a notice from this outfit informing of a past due account with THE GOOD COOK BOOK CLUB (Jan 2003). I have never heard of this company and have no cook books in my home from them.
The bill is for commitment charges for books not purchased. It looks to like a scam. I am forwarding this bill to the state Attorney General's office for verification

Sorry you were directed here in error. we are a forum dedicated to helping people in debt. We do not know about books that you bought.
You may want to try to have RJM validate the debt for you.

I just received a letter from RJM from a Literary Guild Select Book Club and the topper was my first name isn't spelt right and my last name is my husbands last name...I never changed my name legally or have written it as his name ever and we have been together for 17 years. The bill is for 2004,,,,,,,,,,I will not pay for something I did not order or receive. How can I do something about this? They only have a fax number but from the above written comments from others it is futile! Help .........anyone.........?

I received a notice from this so called collection agency a few days ago. The paper stated that they would give me 3 opportunities to resolve the debt by giving me payment options. For one thing, I'VE NEVER heard even ordered any books and they say that I did back in 2004! Liars! There wasnt a number to call on the paper, just a fax number to fax to. I decided to do research on them on the net and found out that I wasnt the only one that this has happened to. So I finally called a 508 number listed and it turned out to be a fake number. I then found a 800 number (18008860026) which is the real number , and spoke to a woman by the name of Cindy (ext 5032) who asked me to verify my address, I then told her that I have never heard of this book club nor have I ever signed or authorized any purchases for a book. She named a few books that I "thought" may sound familiar, which Ive never heard of a day in my life, she then said "Okay, I will go ahead and delete this account, you will no longer receive notices". I then asked is there a reference number or anything that I can have to document this IN CASE I do receive anything from you all again, she replied "No, but you can take my name and extension". I informed her that if I did receive anything else from this company I will inform my lawyer and report this to the better business bureau because I believe that this is a bogus company that is trying to scam people out of their money. I mean, what type of collections agency wouldnt have a contact number to provide to a customer???? Sounds strange. Do not let them scam you out of your money.... Call 1-800-886-0026 and get it straight before they go any further, Im young and I'll be da**ed if I let a bogus comoany ruin my credit!

I never bought anything from them and i have been told to possibly open a lawsuit with all the evidence i have (11 pages of people with the same problem). anyway they said i bought something book from Doubleday Book Club when i dont read books and especially not the kind that book club sells those huge ones that would take me like 10 years to read.
