Collection agency is calling me for collecting a very old debt. It was issued in May 1998. I live in Alaska. Am I still bound to pay the amount?

Check the SOL of the said debt. It is 3 years in Alaska. This makes the debt out of the collection period in terms of legal actions.

By this time, it should not appear in your credit report also as it is past the 7 years reporting time as per the FCRA laws.

Please check your latest credit report to confirm the latest standing of this account.
