I need a little advice. We have a loan with Sonic, and I recently quit my job due to health reasons, in doing so we got behind on our mortgage. I need to make a mortgage payment and not pay sonic, any suggestions?

How long have you been dealing with Sonic? If the balance is not so high, I would suggest you pay them off and get rid of them.
I doubt if Sonic will accept any payment plan or cooperate with you. But you can explain your problem to your mortgage lender and offer them a payment plan if possible. In my opinion mortgage loan is more important as your home is involved with it. Hope other members will put more helpful info here that can guide you to the right way

DO NOT send Sonic anything thru money gram, western union. They will not take payment arrangements and they give bogus US addresses that forward the payment to British COlumbia and Malta. Send them a wage revocation letter ASAP and give a copy to your payroll department so that your employer doesn't honor the wage assignment. Remember a digital wage assignment means nothing. It has to be signed in person in order for it to be enforced.

If you don't have a job then Sonic has nothing they can hurt you with. They cannot do anything legally and thus rely on abusive tactics like trying to discrace you at your place of employment.
You are going to get some calls from them. Just let the machine pick it up and pay your other bills. Sonic could care less if you lose your home as long as they get paid. Trying to reason with them is pointless. They will try to tell you that your account is going to some collection agency - just ignore it. That loan is not a legal loan and there is nothing that they or any collection agency can legally do to collect on it. Payday loans have to follow the laws of your home State and not where they say it does. Just because they put something in their loan agreements does not make it legal.
They will lie to you to get you to pay. Ignore it.

I agree to the suggestions you both have given. You are 100% correct on concluding about Sonic and I am also on the same side.
But, when I mean sending the money through money gram, it implies that I have tried to make the payment in the first place and not avoid the matter. If I have to gather proof about my actions, I will have to show the payment receipt first.
Money gram won't get transferred to a fake address in US. So, the money will return back to me with a failure delivery. And I will gather proof of my actions by this time.
Revoking the wage assignment won't work unless Sonic has notified in writing to the payroll. However, the payroll dept must be notified about such actions in advance. They will not let Sonic deduct money from the paycheck.

Well...If you don't get a check they can't take money out of it! You should send the revocation letter anyway, just in case you have a check or 2 still coming...Your payroll dept WILL know that wage revocations are a bunch of junk, anyway...It's not a federal law, but personnel really should let you know that they've received one. Interestingly enough, though..Recently I recieved a wage assignment from sonic for an employee and it was so STUPID and unprofessional..It had typos all over and didn't even give a total.
Anyway, let sonic know that you're having some hardships. They'll definitely be easier to deal with if YOU contact THEM.
