Eureka is a pretty neat little town. I just wish all the Yankees wouldn't retire down here and then decide all of us poor Arkies are too stupid to take care of ourselves. Then they just have to run for office. Bah!

Sorry. We have a guy from up north who has lived here a couple years and decided he should be sheriff.

Virginia-Legal-Defense,

That's an excellent suggestion. People must also be aware that some collectors are not beyond "spoofing" a caller ID number. If they have your cell phone number for example, they'll spoof your home number to get you to answer, and visa versa. This is very easily done, various websites sell cards to do this as well (to spoof any number you wish on a caller ID). --And, believe it or not, it seems to be legal.

I know what you mean. I believ many people are supprised we aren't all married to our cousins. There are 6 kids in my family, 4 have degrees, 1 is a fireman and 1 is a stay at home granny babysitting grandkids. We were all born here and except for my oldest brother (electrical engineer) who lives in Houston, we all still live here. I love this place, but it sure is growing (which I don't like)

He probaly knows about our crazy traffic problems. There is no way a cit could plan on this kind of growth. The population was 13000 when I was in elementry school and I believe it is around 50,000 now. Springdale builds at least one new shcool every year.

Yeah, Toni, Eureka is small, butthere are alot of people that come to the firework show. They bring lawn chairs, eyc., and they have music and vendors before the show. We pass Springdale when we go.

I just found this site and WOW!!! Talk about passionate, lol...seriously, I am glad I found this, it will help. As a military man for over 22 years, I have gotten into my share of problems and only recently met the rude/vulgar collectors. Extremely hard to deal with, especially when I am deployed so much. Not using that as an excuse, but when you get to the deployed site, you usually don't get mail or phone calls for at least a month...not much you can do from the other side of the world. And having been ripped off by some collectors before (No, Mr. Smith, we will only remove $100 a month from your account...only to find out that they took the ENTIRE PAYCHECK!!!) I don't do the check by phone, post dated check or allotment anymore (except for my landlord). And most of the time, my commander has backed me up, after these rude/vulgar "individuals" called him and started in on him, lol. As for political discussions, here is my military view; "I may not like what you have to say and I may not agree with what you have to say; but I will defend with my life your right to say it." And on that I thank all that have posted information versus opinions.

slayerofdragons,

Members of this forum are fighting against the unfair means of debt collection. People here always try to pay their debts. If you visit the forum, you will feel the happiness of getting another account paid in full.

We have few collectors with us, who were very good and ethical with their profession and tried to help debtors always. If you join this forum, you will get immense support from the members and can interact with others through PM as well. Keep us posted.

Slayerofdragons,

Welcome to the forums, it's great to have you here. You really hit the nail on the head describing this forum as passionate! I admit, I can hit the roof when someone poking around here is so wrong it's scary.

I suggest cutting yourself off completely from these foulmouthed and theiving collectors, contact an attorney to bar them from tapping into your account any further. If you are still in the military, finding an affordable lawyer shouldn't be difficult. Finally, look into settling with the original creditor. They should understand that since your collectors operate unlawfully, you can't trust them and you shouldn't.

Good luck with all this,

Ari
