Updated February 18, 2004:
The FCC announced today that it has received nearly 10,000 complaints since the Do Not Call Registry came into effect October 1, 2003. The FCC has also issued eight citations for Do Not Call Registry violations.

I have been called over and over again by a Stephanie Jones (1-877-337-3099) True Logic Financial, Colorado. I have gone to their site and complained about this person calling me for the past 2-3 weeks @7pm or 8pm -- I let the answering machine take it but if I answer it is a recording and a series of ref. numbers...no way to talk to her. I have also noted that I am on the Do Not Call List thru the FCC and that I intend to followup on this with them. Anne Vogler

VERY annoying repeated calls to me....a recording that you can not even answer...(unless you press 1) so I chose not to do that.....I have elderly family out of state and worry when I get calls rather late in the evening. Three is NO possible reason for them to call me WHATSOEVER...and I hope checking with the Do No Call List people again --- will do some good. Keep me informed? Thanks, Anne

It is very tough to deal with the CAs having malicious intentions. You must report the FTC, BBB and the state attorney general about their illegal activities. Besides, the cease and desist letter offers a legal umbrella in such situations. Any collection agency will violate the fdcpa laws if they try to contact you after receiving your cease and desist letter. You can also record the phone calls for legal proof and take strong actions against the company.

The "Do Not Call" registry is for telemarketing, Surveys,Etc. It does not apply to the collections industry. If True Logic Financial is calling you they probably think you owe a debt to someone they are collecting for.

You should speak to someone and find out what they are trying to do. You have a limited amount of time under the laws to dispute validity or to ask for validation. Have your received any written communication from them? They should have sent you written notice within 5 days after they began trying to contact you by phone. IF you do not dispute or ask for validation within 30 days they may legally assume the debt is legitimate and continue collection attempts.

By the way it looks like True Logic is a debt buyer, so if they are looking for you it could be for a really old account that maybe out of its Statute of Limitations. Be careful in your dealings that you don't inadvertently re-start the SOL if it is expired.

I keep getting recorded calls from her (Stephanie Jones 1-877-337-3099). I have not called back nor have I received anything in the mail from True Logic Financial. IF I understand you correctly, I don't need to do anything unless I receive something in the mail from them. Will it be certified? If not, what would prevent them from saying that mailed something to me when they did not?

Until I reported harrassing calls over the past few months to my phone company, I had no idea who was calling me. I have been receiving harrassing collection calls from Michele Thomas who provides 866-488-4299 as the number to call for an "important message." I phoned the number after numerous calls, received a recorded msg: If you would like to make a payment, press 1, If you have received this call in error and would like to be removed from our database, press 2" Well, no amount of pressing 2 and leaving info they require stops the calls. I've never had delinquent bills. I reported it to my phone company, they recommended I contact the Federal Trade Commission www.ftc.gov , which I have done. Hopefully that stops the calls but we'll see I suppose.

I've had both Thomas and Jones recording call at different times. TrueLogic isn't on my credit report and I believe it's for a old cell phone bill that should be out of SOL but I'm not 100% sure if it is just yet. I hate to stir the pot and ask for a validation letter for it. The ATT isn't listed on my credit report any longer and neither is True logic. So maybe the SOL is up.

Hehe I have a copy of the message on my voicemail as we speak.

Ask the debt validation doesn't renew the Statute of limitation period. You are just trying to get the details about your account from the company attempting collections. If they have your info, it must be put in writing; otherwise it's not a legitimate call.

Don't make any payment agreement until you have reviewed the details thoroughly. BTW, you can check the state laws and know the SOL period. SOL expires if you have not paid anything within the timeframe.

So regardless if I answer the call or not, as long as I don't receive anything in the mail, I'm okay. Right?

Clippard, if you are using cease and desist communication, prefer to have contact only through mail. Keep a follow up over the phone before sending the letter.

PostPosted: Sat Jun 10, 2006 6:46 pm Subject: harassing calls

My parents have been receiving these calls every single night, of coarse at dinner time. It has been going on for weeks now.

My parents have NEVER had any past due debt. I made them check their credit report recently, just because it is what you are supposed to do, and it was spotless.

I happened upon this board while searching for the source of the calls. Perhaps you have some advice for us. Will they ever end! What are they supposed to do?

Thanks,
nani

Keep a check on the credit report if Trulogic financial tries to enter any negative remark. They can do it only if they have a genuine purpose for it. Get in touch with the company and ask for the purpose of the call. If they don't have a genuine purpose, your name must be removed from the system. If they try to report anything in your file, it will be a fraudulent entry and you will have a legal case against them.

Truelogic should rename itself TrueLies. These bottom feeders never check their facts, they just get an old phone number then harass whoever happens to be living there at the time they start calling.

Previously I received automated calls from 1-866-488-4299 Michelle Thomas now theyve moved on to 1-877-337-3099. My mother spent $250 in lawyers fees to get rid of a different crooked collection agency called National Recovery trying to collect an $80 gas bill owed by someone else 20 miles away.

I too received many many many called from Stephanie Jones. She left canned messages on my answering machine about every other day. I called and pressed #2 and left numerous messages pleading that they remove me from their list. I didn't get a call from them for about a week and then BOOM... Last night I get home and there is Stephanie Jones leaving me a message. So I get into work this morning and the first thing I do is file a complaint with the National Do Not Call Registry. Then I call Truelogic Financial at 877-337-3099 and I think I pressed 3 to speak to a rep. I got to someone very quickly and asked for miss Jones. The guy asked for my ID number and I didn't have one. then he asked for my home number and I gave it. He asked if I am Aidela Green to which I say no. Then he says he will remove me from the calling list and we hang up. so we will see what happens. Gosh that Pi$$e$ me off. Good luck.
