I read your post and feel that United Legal is not having any of your accounts that can be said real. If they have anything, they must give you the debt validation in writing within 5 days of placing the initial phone call. But nothing has been sent to you. Send a debt validation letter from your side and cover your basis. You will be able to prove that you have taken the responsibility from your side if you owe them anything.
The main thing to worry here is that they were having your personal information including the SSN#. Keep a check on your credit report regularly. You will detect quickly if anything fishy takes place. As per the conversation taken place with this company and reading through your post, I feel that the company broke the fdcpa laws each time talking to you. They used rude methods of collection, tried to misrepresent the accounts and peep in your personal information. You must take legal help if you are not able to exercise your legal rights on them. Check the state laws and see if you can record the phone calls secretly. If you are required to inform the other party, add a clear statement that you are recording the phone call for legal purpose and if the conversation is continued, the permission is granted by the other party. Hopefully, this recording will be a serious proof of your case. |

Received call from United Federal Bank phone # 305-433-8364
I would like to send a debt validation as well as a cease and desist letter requesting these people not to contact me by phone any longer but only in writing; however I have no address of this supposed collection agency. To date, I have not received any other phone calls from this "scam" collection agency.
I had asked this rude collector for this information and he would not disclose it to me. I have also tried to do a Internet reverse search for this company using various online sources to no avail. If there anyway that anyone may have any type of physical address of United Federal Bank in Cheyenne, Wyoming and their company telephone number to provide to me would be greatly appreciated. Thank anyone in advance who could provide me with this information. |

It seems to me that they have to same address as Interstate Wire Compliance. The only one number I have for them is 800-664-0596 and no one ever answers and all you get is a recording. I will see if i can get more info on them.

I was called by a woman named Cathy(407-574-2413) this morning. She told me the same thing about paying by 12:00PM, using money gram, and going to court. She also told me that they are partners with Jacoby & Myers when I asked. I called Paragon, Paragon gave me the number to a company that they used called I-Collect and talked with a woman named Lindsey (1-866-224-8776 x2). Lindsey said that they use United Federal Bank as their debt collectors. I'm not sure if I owe this money or not to be honest and I don't want to be a victim of a scam. I may very well owe this money but don't want to deal with the court process. What should I do?

Roblow, you need to know for sure which CA is authorized to collect the debt from you. It is not getting clear with so many companies over you without any paperwork. Ask the CA that they are bound to follow the fdcpa laws and according to it, they must give you the necessary account details with copies of contract signed with your original creditor.
If Paragon is the original creditor whom you need to pay the debt, explain your problems with the collection agency and request them to collect the money from you. If you can make arrangements with them, you won't have to work with any CA in between. You can ask them to stop their attempts as you are working with the original creditor directly. Review the details of the account before making any payment agreement. Under the FDCPA laws, you can refuse to pay anything before you see the details in paper. Without shown anything in paper, court process cannot take place. Send letters to the companies in your way making them go through the debt validation process. When you have sent this letter through certified mail with return receipt requested, they are bound by law to put the details in writing. If they take the matter to the court, they won't have anything to prove because they failed to give you the information that you requested. You will automatically hold a strong place. |

United Federal Bank
I also rec'd a call from United Federal Bank @ work today stating that they were trying to collect on a payday loan that I am currently just paying the finance charges on until I can afford to pay off. Frank Miller demanded that I pay $640 by Moneygram at 12 noon today or I would be charged with check fraud and the police would come to my house and take me "downtown" I requested copies of my papers with them and said that I wanted to speak to my original Pay day loan company because I wasn't in default with them in fact they just took a payment today. He got quite nasty said he was a supervisor and I had to agree to settle out of court, before I could talk to someone else. I refused and said that I wanted to call the loan company and call him back, he then offered to transfer me to them. But when he supposedly transfered me it was another foriegn speaking man with all the same backgroud noise as the first. I asked for his direct company number and he said it was against the rules to give it to me and said I had to call United federal to speak to them. I hung up. I haven't heard from them again, but I did talk to an attorney and they gave me all the same advise your website is giving. Thanks for the information you have posted.

Hi mrsreg95
Next time when the person from United Federal Bank calls you and if he uses the same threatening words, tell him to change his scary tactics as people are not afraid of them now. Also, tell him that you are keenly interested in filing your complaints against them at the FTC and the BBB as well as the local AG's office. Don't show them your fear because you haven't done anything wrong. You are ready to pay your bills provided they are the right company with all your account information. You don't want your money to go wasted and help them in doing their illegal business!! |

Same scenario
I recieved a call today from a female from United Federal bank and they left a voice mail stating that I had to call them back withing 30 minutes and that I needed to have my attorney call them. I called them back and spoke with a male and he told me that they didn't want one red cent and that they were downloading something to my county and state today and wished me the best of luck also. I told him that I was disputing it. When I called the number it didn't identify the name of the company it just said on the message "front desk" The listed of three charges. I personally and not going to do anything. They intimidated me, harrassed me at work. I am going to file a complaint at www.ftc.gov about them. If you have further information please let me know. Thank you.

If the state laws allow recording of the phone calls secretly, you can record the telephonic conversation with the person and present it to your lawyer as legal proof.
Along with your complaints with the FTC, you can also report to the local AG's office and the BBB. They might be thinking of taking actions against them due to the large number of complaints received. |

Hi Monique, send a letter to Jack for debt validation. Under the federal laws, you have the rights to review the details of the accounts before making any payment. The company has to identify the original payday loan company along with calculation of all the interest rates. Besides, a copy of the agreement signed with the lending company should also be sent as proof.
