Received call from 305-433-8364 United Federal Bank from FL
I received a call from 718-715-0846 for a collection from United Federal Bank and te company calling was Pay services. I had my wallet stilen a couple months ago and had a charge from a company on my bank account. I was not sure where it was from, so I put a stop payment on it. After receiveing the call today, I checked my account and I did get a payday loan for $100 and the guy told me today that is I didn't pay $350 he was going to press charges for check fraud. I did not have the money at the time and told him I wanted a copy of the loan documents. The gentleman said that he could not send me anything until I paid it off and it had to be today by 4:30 PM Eastern, then he would send me the paperwork. I do owe the money and am ready to pay it, I just want information first. I am not sure who the company is that gave me loan an they won't give me the name. If they don't give me any information, do I have the right to refuse payment?

You have the right to refuse to pay this collection agency. Send them a debt validation letter by certified mail with return receipt. More than likely they will not validate the debt. This is one of their collection tactics. Be firm with them and stand your ground and let them know you know your rights. You can't be charged with check fraud. They have to provide you with the loan documents and they have to send you a letter within 5 days of contacting you. Once again, DO NOT send them anything til they validate.

The two gentlemen I tlked to had middle eastern accents just like someone else posted and when they answer the phone, they do not give abusiness name. I filed a complaint with the FTC, is there anyone else I should contact? |

I fear if identity theft is the case with you. You must immediately pull your credit report and check for accounts unknown to you. The company is using some scary collection tactics on you. Try to know the name of the company that deposited the loan amount. Yes, you must have everything in writing before making a payment. Under the FDCPA laws, you have the legal rights to refuse payments until the account has been validated. |

Big Pine Key, FL 33407 This is what came up when I done a search. I agree with Gretchen, I fear ID theft. You need to file a police report immediately. You can file a complaint agaisnt them with the BBB, AG office in your state and in Florida. |

Make a copy of the voicemail left on the machine and file a complaint against him with the AG's office in your state and the state they are in, and the FTC. They have violated the fdcpa laws. Send them a debt validation letter and a cease and desist letter certified mail with return receipt.

CA's make a lot of inquiries in the credit file of the consumers. In most cases, they are not done with a genuine purpose. They look out for any information related with you and do credit check. Be aware, that they are bound by laws to view it only. They can't touch it if they don't have a legal reason.

United Federal Bank/Harassment Calls/Payday Loans
I have been receiving threatening calls from Andrew Flintoff, who claims he is an Affidavit Processor for United Federal Bank whose client, Debt Doctor, gave me a payday loan. He said my case file was being downloaded and I was also going to jail for check fraud and that 7 or 8 people would be either at home or here at work to pick me up. He said, "Don't worry - we'll find you. We know where you live and where you work." I called the Police Dept. who listened to his recordings I kept and they called to tell him he was being investigated for harassment. The police officer said they could barely understand his broken english, but that when this jerk realized it was a legitimate law enforcement officer, he actually hung up on her! I am having my lawyer call him next & may sue United Federal Bank for harassment.

I just want to know where they find these jerks and what it is going to take to get them shut down. I have seen several complaints on here about these people including my own. I just recently sent back my complaint to the Federal Trade Commission and the Florida Attorney General.

What would be legal reason to steal someones personal info and try to extort money?
Wouldnt someone accually have to have an account or owe money? For what Ive experienced, the only legal reason they need is "Hi Im mr ( insert fake collecters name here) and ( insert random name here) owes ( insert random ammount of money here)" and our info is handed over just like that. No proof, No accual account, no permission or knowleage that our lives are being traded from the credit bureau that we are supposed to trust. We should start by blaming the credit bureaus for giving these jerks an open door policy for fraud. |

Jack Smith called me too. He yelled at me when I asked for a debt validation letter then hung up on me. I got the long distance # that showed up on my caller ID and called him back. Too funny and worth the money spent on the call.....He said he was putting me on the phone with a supervisor ( who was Jack trying to use a deeper voice) who tried to yell at me too then hung up. I called back and said all calls were being recorded and if he didn't quit calling me I would only call back to record his harrassing words be recorded. That was two months ago and he hasn't called back yet. It was rather liberating to turn the table on him.

same thing to me
about 2 weeks ago I got the same call both at home and work. Same message, telling me if I did not pay by 5pm I would be arrested. Like a fool I paid them some Then the more I thought about it..I got mad!
I called them back and asked what was this for and how much do I owe and to who. They said that I should know and the amount of $ was going up. I did call the Fl better businees bureur and the FTC. Now today I got a call at home from someone saying they are with the "pre litiagtions" of UFB. I did report that call the the FTC. |
