I had the worst experience with the person who answered the phone. Not only are you on hold for 10 minutes or more but she transfers you mid sentence and when you call back she asks why you keep calling. When I asked to speak to a manager/supervisor I'm told no one is available. When I asked to have the person who left me the message call me back I could not even get my contact number out of my mouth before I was hung up on! I asked this person for her name, she advised Pilar. God help anyone who deals with her!! The lack of customer service skills is amazing.

Received a call claiming "urgent" from a Universal Fidelity person, Rick Baker. He did not give any indication that it was a collection action and his representation was bogus. I called to get information from them and they would give me no information. There is something very misleading, and I suspect fraudulent about this company. BEWARE!!! I have asked for additional information and have received none.

I too am receiving 6-8 phonecalls from them a day. They refused to give me an addresss so I can send a cease phone communication letter to them. My calls are for an American Express debt but I am having to file bankruptcy due to over $25K in medical bills that were denied by my insurance company and am now disabled. Also, FYI, the guy who is calling me says his name is Ray, is foreign and I aasked him if he was in the US and he said no. Sounds like this is being outsourced to India, based on the guy's accent.
He too was rude, constantly interrupting me, etc. AARRGGHH!!!!!!

My mother just got a phone call from them at my telephone #. She doesn't live here & never did. She also would never give out my #. Is this a real call or phony? Identity theft & all???

She may have used u as a reference or these collection agencies do what's called skip tracing.... they seem to be able to contact anyone or their family!
I'd get the information on them and send them a debt validation letter along with cease and desist. Make sure to send it return reciept requested.
Good Luck,
Ang

This comany is calling MY home for something concerning my MOTHER who has been dead for over 2 months. I screen all my calls and have never spoken with them, but on the advice of my attorney, I am NOT returning their calls, and will answer no letters addressed to my mother. Has anyone else had this type of issue with this company. I have no idea what debts she had and have no way of knowing now.

I think UF is one of the companies associated with LVNV. I have heard they collect on everything from bills with Fingerhut to old Sears accounts.

They are third party, junk debt buyers. They buy old debts or charged off debts for pennies on the dollar and try to collect from people.

Your attorney is right, don't talk to them- they are ruthless in ther practices. Just follow what your attorney says, and you will be ok!!..KAren

I can't believe how rude these people are. I have been getting phone calls from them also about a Macy's account that I don't have. They keep telling me that when they called me a month ago that I agreed to settle with them and now I am telling them that I don't have a Macy's card. Who are these people? Also one of the agents told me that they would be calling me everyday until I pay. I called the Police Dept. to file but they say that I need proof/ credit report to show that the account was oppened. I got my credit report and there is no current Macy's account card on there. I had one 10 years ago that was closed about a few months after I got it and there is no balance on it. It feels like these guys are not legit. I wouldn't pay them any money even if I owed money on a card. I just don't trust them. I called them again this morning to get more info on the card so I can really figure out what to do about it and the agent who answered my call was really rude and said that I had agreed to pay and that now I am denying the fact that I have a Macy's card and just hung up the phone. Unbelievable. Evil or Very Mad

Send them a request for debt validation and a Cease and Desist letter, that they only contact you through the mail.

You are right, some of them are rude, etc., that's why it is better to communicate through the mail.

Inform them in the letter, you don't have a card with Macys, that you have been telling them this, and you want debt validation-they won't be able to give it to you!Send all correspondence certified, return receipt, and make copies of everything!

Good Luck..Karen

If you want universal to learn they're lesson for harassing consumers then file a complaint with the attorney general in your state, make sure to include the representative's name as well as the representative's managers name, they get in huge trouble for these complaints, it's the only complaints that they are worried about. Trust me, i used to work there, they are some shady characters.

PostPosted: Fri Nov 02, 2007 3:31 pm    Post subject: Searching For Ways to Get This Company To Stop Calling

We moved to a new town in Feb. and we keep getting calls for the person who used to have this number.

The UF people are driving me crazy. The call all the time, but when we answer its just a recording saying they cannot give details out over the phone and to call their number back.

A 281 area code. I tried calling once and got put on hold forever, literally like 45 mins until my ear was just dead and I hung up.

I call a lot of times and it just rings and rings and no one ever answers, even though they say to call by 9pm. I just called 2 mins after receiving their recorded message tonight, and again no one answered.

Uggghhhhh!!!! LOL It really is driving my hubby and I crazy. We have had our number now for 6 months and dont want to change it, but its getting to the point we may have to. I really dont think this call is for us, I think its for one of the three (wrong numbers) people who used to have the number and we are always getting calls for.

People are very rude about it too, we try to explain that we just moved here and got this number and they have the wrong house... but its like they never believe it and continue to call back.

OK UFLP IS NOT A DEBT BUYER-GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT-THEY ARE A COLLECTION AGENCY HIRED BY CLIENTS TO COLLECT DEBTS THAT THEIR "CUSTOMERS" HAVEN'T PAID. HOW CAN YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THE CALLS? YOU OWE MONEY!!!! THEY ARE CALLING SO YOU CAN HONOR YOUR AGREEMENT AND PAY BACK MONEY YOU OWE. I WAS IN COLLECTIONS FOR ONE ACCOUNT AND I PAID IT- ITS SAD THAT PEOPLE HAVE SO MUCH DEBT AND GET MAD WHEN COMPANYS CALL THEM ABOUT IT.
