I received about 40 calls from these crooks so far, they are trying to collect somthing from a credit card I had about 11 years ago, it was a semi company credit card so I would carry a balance around 10,000 every month and it was payed off every month. I closed it when i sold my business and now after 11 years they claim i own them $240. What a joke, i ask them to send proof, they do nothing, just keep calling whith the same old line, "how would you like to take care of this today sir" i say fcuk off and stop calling me. its been months now since they started calling, no letter just rude phone calls. I suspect this company collects uncollectable debts and just harrasses people till the finally pay somthing, crooks. of the 10+ times i've actually picked up the phone and talked to them I noticed they were all Indian, some low cost outfit that just bulk call you all day. I've now come to the point where if i have time I will pick up the phone and just goof around with them, like pretend I;m interested in this and then start talking about somthing entirely different. i'll bet they now have over 2 hours on the phone with me for somthing I dont owe and wont pay, even to make them stop calling. Tell them to fcuk off.

Send them a written request to only communicate with you via USPS. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested. They are bound by law (including $1,000 per violation) to abide by it.

True JC but obviously they are NOT working under the law cuz after a phone call they have 5 days to send u written notice and seems like he never got that either. So there's another violation!
Hell keep track, u may rack up some $$ if u can find an atty to take it on!
Also make sure to look at ur credit reports to see if they're reporting this!
Good Luck,
Ang

Just got a phone call from these guys and at first I was talking to a lady trying to make arrangements on an account then a gentleman came on didn't give his name and said he hadn't heard me try to arrange anything and he started threatening to take my house and garnish my wages. Then I got my husband up to talk to him and they hung up on him.

If they said they were going to do it and have not sued you, they have 30 days to do so or they will be in violation of the fdcpa. You see placing liens on property and wage garnishment (in most states) functions that are awarded by a magistrate after a person has been sued and lost. They cannot make threats of lawsuit if they cannot or do not intend to do so. Could you give me a little more information on the debt.
1. What type of debt?
2. When was it generated?
3. When did it go deliquent
4. When was the last time you made a payment on it?
5. What state do you live in?

Default UF=Jerks!

I just had the worst encounter with these people! I had set up payment arrangements with them, with a payment plan of every 2 weeks. The debt(with Sprint) was to be paid off in 3 payments. Well, they took the payment out early and sent my bank account into the negative. When I called them, I got hung up on once & transfered about 12 times having to explain the story over & over. Finally a manager got on the phone & was so rude! I am in fact in tears at this point because I am soooo angry! Anyway, he told me that I am not an adult, not to tell him how to do his job & if I wanted to stop payment on the charge I can. He said he doesn't really care about my "little" payment and that it will not "make or break" their company! His name (he claims....) was Mr. Jones. What a JERK!!!!

I can't agree more with this string. Apparently, I owed Macy's $100 from 2002. I pay my bills when I get them... I hadn't received a bill from Macy's. I was called all sorts of names by the UF agent (Ms. Conneley) and then she hung up on me after I stated that she was rude and that I wouldn't give her my CC number. She said she would perform a credit request and that it would be on my record if I didn't cooperate. Anyway, I am going to boycott Macy's until they end their contract with UF. I think we need to end using companies that would hire such low life companies such as UF.

Universal Fidelity keeps calling me asking fo rthe previous homeowner that moved away 10 months ago. The caller identifies himself as Rick Baker.
I keep telling this guy that the person he wants no longer lives here but he insists on the continued calls. He asks if I know the persons number, address, family names etc. When I tell him no, he justs sighs and there is this real long pause on the phone like he's mad at me. I think he keeps calling me because my name and the persons name is very similer. Strange but true.

Send them a complete C&D letter. Send it certified mail, return reciept requested. And keep a copy along with the little green card showing they signed for it. When they keep calling, document everything. Then sue the pants off of them for violation of fdcpa, harrassment, and anything else you can think of. Best of luck!

I dealt with UF about a year ago-at that time they were a DBA of LVNV-so don't expect anything but problems! Make sure you document evrything!!Keep copies of all correspondence and phone calls too.

When they find out you know your rights, they will either not bother you anymore and pass it to another agency, or they start getting nicer!! Best of luck..Karen

Candi, it sounds like they re aged the account. Big Fair Credit Reporting Act violation. Tell them to remove it or you will file civil suit.
