Hi all: I took out a loan with a walk in pay
day company "Cash n Go" in Maryland. I have was
a good customer until fell on hardship this last pay
and had to stop payment on the check for $550.00.
They called my references. Do you think they would accept payment arrangement on a cancelled check?

Txs

Hi Missy

The lender will always appreciate you making the payment. If you can call them first before they do, and explain your financial problems, they will likely make some arrangements for you. Do not wait for them to call you. If this happens, you can expect them to be rude because they will feel that you were showing your irresponsibility in paying off the account. Well, that's not the case, call them and work on the payment plan. Keep a follow up through letters also.

We found that the walk-in ones were fairly to deal with. Call them, you might be suprised.

They will work with you, BUT after a certain amount of time they have to turn the check over to collections. I have dealt with them and they will work with you. I did not pay for like two months and they called and said pay it off or come in and pay the interest and we would be good.

Missy as everyone else is saying, be proactive, contact them and tell them what you can afford to pay, how often you will pay it and follow through with it. They will most likely accept it, although they may try and get you to pay more, be firm and offer to pay only what you can be sure you can handle. In general, they will work with you because that is t eh easiest way to get their money. It doesn't hurt to put the arrangement in writing either

From what I understand, store front lenders will work with you. I would call them and make payment arrangements with them. They can sue for check fraud. Store front lenders are a little different than online lenders. Store front lenders must be licensed in their state and have the licensed displayed in the store. Most of them also have you write the check for the same day you took the loan. I think they will be more cooperative than the online lenders that I am dealing with. Good luck and keep us updated.

Store front lenders usually are easy to work with and more understanding. They will help you out as long as you contact them and are honest with them. Good luck to you.

Mishele did you mean to say that storefront lenders cannot sue for checkfraud?

In my state, store front lenders can sue for check fraud if it goes unattended by the debtor. The checks are not postdated, they are written the same day the loan is taken out. They have to be licensed in the state before they can even open their doors. Online payday lenders are a little bit different but the majority don't follow any laws in my opinion.

This is something that passed in my state either last summer or fall. I've even contacted a local store front lender and it's true. They also told me it only gets to this point after several attempts have been made to collect the debt and no response from the debtor. I think store front lenders seem to be easier to work with but all of mine were online lenders so anything can go there.

I doubt they will put you in jail but they can take you to court if the state allows it. I will have to do some more research when I get home tonight. I have to get back to work. Sad
