i'm sorry and just to give all of the debtors advice based on personal business dont trust those credit counseling services they dont help the same settlements we offer to them you'd be able to have without havinge to pay them. i had to send my sister-in-law to litigationg and have her served with a summons all because she paid out over $3200 to a ccs for a $1329 debt and not one red cent was paid on this. so avoid the middle man and save yourself some money trust me they do not help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Z&A, the reason people hire credit counseling services/consolidation/settlement services is because they feel they can't do it on their own any more. True, you have to pay them, but sometimes the fact that someone is helping to take the stress off your back is worth it. And a reputable company won't take your money and run. I'm sorry that happened to your sister-in-law. That's a good example of a non-reputable company. Many people here, however, have found companies that are great to work with and the effects of the company are reflected in their changed attitudes. Don't knock it until you know what it feels like.
I appreciate that you're coming here trying to give us valuable information, but don't come in here and say "How dumb can you all be." I didn't sleep well last night, and I'm a little cranky..I could pick on the fact that you obviously don't know how to punctuate, and your statements are full of spelling errors. |

Setup pymts nothing on paper
I was dealing with Zwicker and Assoc. over my discover acct. We talked and the woman got me to give her my acct number and bank routing number. Now they have taken $ out of my acct, and I have no letter of agreement with them saying that if i paid this settlement, i would be fulfilling my obligation. She said i would have something in writing, never came and when it came time for them to take the $ out I had closed that acct. but somehow, they were able to get my $ still. Do you they legally have to provide you with something in writing or was I just nieve in giving them the acct #'s and all

Zach, you must have something in writing from the company after the payment arrangements are done. Call the company and get something in writing because this document will help you in your dispute later. Also, you need to ask how they are debiting money from your closed account. If you are unable to get this matter arranged on your own, perhaps, you need the help of a debt counselor.

Obviously you cant help to look at my grammer!good job. Anyways i would say 92% out of 100% of my debtors that have went through "credit consolidation" companies have said that they should have just paid us (or any other firm) directly and saved themself money and stress. One woman says she pays the ccc 400 monthly and all they pay out to the 4 debts that she owes is $25 to one and $50 to the others! Where is her money, that should begoing to her bills going, in the sleazy ccc's account when they shouldnt be charging more then they're paying out!!! How fair is that? To the man who has a discover account call whenever you get a chance and ask for a discover account manager and if you paid in actuality like you say you did when the first payment is taken from your account our computers automatically generate a letter and if your information that we have in the system is accurate you'd have recieved a settlement or balance paid in full letter. If you havent, than you have proof through your bank account and there is no way for our company to denie this ok so call!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um....wrong
These are people who WANTED to pay it back and do the RIGHT thing. Some are being harrassed by a company calling the wrong person...(BTW, get the police to investigate. You are experiencing harrassment and can receive up to $1,500 per call). However, these companies take SEVERE advantage of these people. One sounds completely fradulant activity (they must provide you with documentation...) by the collector.
Just because SOME of the people you deal with are not willing to pay doens't mean all of them are. Obviously you haven't read the board. This is about BAD collection companies...They happen. Besides, just who would waste their time wandering around on the net making silly posts about something they haven't read and don't understand? Unless of course you work for Zwicker & Assoc.... |

Zwicker
I am working with a debt consolidation firm to pay off my debts. I've been paying for almost 2 years now and suddenly I am getting rude and repeating phone calls from a collector with Zwicker. When I try to give the information about the company that I am working with to pay off my debts he hangs up. Then calls back and asks if I'm ready to be an adult. I try to give the information again and the same thing happens. He also is threatening a law suit even thought I am working with this debt consolidation firm.
I contacted the firm I work with and they faxed a "Cease and Desist" letter to Zwicker & Associates, but is there anything else I should know or do? Thanks, Randy |

Unless you have a delinquent account somewhere that needs to be handled, then you don't need to put up with Zwicker's nonsense. You did the right thing by informing your consolidation company, so I guess the only other thing that should be loud and clear (and I'm sure you know this) is DO NOT give them any money. If you can, find out who Zwicker is supposedly representing, and if they won't give you that info, then tell them that if they don't stop calling you YOU'RE going to file a suit against THEM for fraudulent collection attempts. Just be sure that they don't have any legitimate debts of yours. Good luck!

They Play Jazz
They play jazz for a couple of minutes then say hello expecting me to pick up the phone. Seems like a huge waste of time then again the comissioned collectors can hope to catch one of us. The problem is th esettlements they offer are just like minimum payments. After they tack on various fees and interest, you can pay them perpetually.

I have a student loan that went into default and now zwicker has the account. I owe 25,000 and they want it within weeks. they want me to refinance my my house or I will be sued. My question is, do they usually settle for a smaller amount? they refuse to set up payment options...at least reasonable payment options. I guess I just don't know what to do. any advice on how to take care of this?

zwicker re.
princess call and give some information about your financial situation and why you can't afford the options given to you . i'm sure that with a financial statement , they will set you up with the proper pymt arrgmt , no one can make you pay what you don't have . i am a case manager or so call collector , i'll tell you something inthis business unlike you there are people full of excuses not to pay their bills and it is hard to belive must of them they don't have jobs or are on ssi yet they pay for cell , cable and 15k cars , this are the people that also have pc and instead of doing what you are doing , trying to pay your debt , are just complaining about the calls are made to their houses . like i said princess give'm a cll a financial statement will show their client what you can afford .

zwicker re.
in the other hand .
by all means if zwicker or any other collecti on law firm is breaking the fdcpa , take proper action against them , but do sit there saying that you have a debt and that collection agencies are harrasing you , when you know that there's 22 collections in your credit report, dating back to 1984 , then my dear friends you are wrong . if you have money to buy a pc and are paying for internet , you may certenly make paymts tours your debts , stop the excuses , and do what's right , if you can't afford to pay because of a mayor hard ship , you need to understand that the clients who hire the collection agencies don't see you as a person , but as a debt ,wrong ? yes . but just do what you need to do , and that is pick the phone up , and say it again , i don't have the means to pay it. the rest of and you know who you are . pay your bills . |
