I like "Christmas Bells", about Snoopy and the red baron. It always gets me in the mood. So does The chipmunks.

ALL OF THEM. Wink

But I'm particularly fond of Trans Siberian Orchestra's "Christmas Eve in Sarajevo" (a version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen) and "Wizards in Winter".

That one written by Mel Torme "chestnuts roasting on an open fire". I'm into jazz, and Mel Torme was one of the greats. Also, though I'm not a country and western fan, I like the song "For Christ's Sake it's Christmas", by George Strait.

I have to add one that I've rarely heard this year - Mary's Song by Amy Grant (also called Breath of Heaven). What a fantastic telling of the story of Christ's birth from Mary's point of view.

Y'all are gonna roast me for this, but I'm gettin' to the point where I cannot abide most Christmas music. I guess I just hear way too much of it. I was in Wal-Mart on 10/29 to get some extra bribes for the local urchins. What were they playin'? You guessed it.

We have some really unusual music that I enjoy for the season. Stuff I've picked up over a lifetime of knocking around in unusual places. None of it, unfortunately, is anything you'll ever hear on the radio.

I'm with you unclewulf. Most of the music I listen to is nothing you'd ever hear on radio, especially nowadays.

I've got Trans-Siberian Orchestra on the speakers at the moment. That's about as 'main stream' as I get.

Wulf - my son got me a TSO cd for Christmas! He knows I love the stuff.

On the topic of Christmas music being played way too early...I was in KMart on 12/23, and there were VALENTINES and VALENTINE'S GIFTS/CANDY on display already, in the middle of the store. I was ticked - it's bad enough they rush Christmas before Halloween now...but Valentines before Christmas is even over?? Evil or Very Mad

I LOVE TSO. My sister gave me tickets to go see them one year around Christmas and hubby didn't want to go so I ended up taking my daughter. I was sooooo awsome!! We both loved it. This year they are playing in Jan. I would love to go but just don't have the $75 for a ticket.

Now back to the post. I love all of the old ones. Bing Crosby, Burl Ives (sp??) The stuff my mom listened to. But there is one song that always makes me cry when I hear it. It has something to do with Christmas Shoes. The little boy that wants to buy a new pair of shoes for his dying mother Crying or Very sad Don't know who sing it but it always makes me cry.
