Same complaint can also be reported at the consumer protection office in your state and the BBB.

I just had the same experience -- these people called and didn't leave a message. I googled the number and ended up here. I also have no reason for debt collectors to call me, so I'm scratching my head.

Hi dr

You have given limited information regarding this matter and according to what I have understood, you should talk to your bank. They will verify this account with the company and if they fail to give the required details, the money will be credited back to your account.

If you are unable to get a refund from the company, you might have to consider closing the account in order to prevent future debits from this company.

Hope that you get positive results from your action.

Regards
Roxette

Mad Jeff

I am sorry to know what you are going through. The company is harassing you on a regular note and you should take some legal actions against them. Please hire and attorney who specializes in the lawsuit of FDCPA and FCRA violations.

Regards
Roxette

PostPosted: Mon Dec 19, 2005 11:20 pm Subject: GC Services made me and my wife question identity theft!

These people contacted my wife to collect on an apparent delequent account. We called the creator and they said the account is not even overdue and should not even be in collections.

A phone conference between the creator, GC Services, and my wife took place a few weeks ago. The creator told the GC Services rep that it should not be in collection and remove the account. Since that time, we have been harrasses several times by phone and one more treatening letter. They will not even call the creator to verify this. They just continue to press for the collection.

Should I consider hiring an lawywer?

Send them DV letter. You have the right to ask for some written log before paying them. If they can validate the debt then only you need to pay. While corresponding, send them CMRRR.

As per as limited resource is concerned, you can consider debt consolidation program to pay off your debts.

Vogel18,

If you feel that they are violating the rules file your complaint with FTC, BBB. Also complain to your State Consumer Protection Agency. You can consult a lawyer anytime.

Ask the company to send you the loan details in writing. If you get it from them, you will be able to place it on dispute.

Send all your letters certified with return receipt requested. You will have proof of your actions taken.

This company have been contacting someone else home concerning me during the month of December. I have no idea what they want. They have not sent any documents to me concerning their claim, nor do they have a telephone number to reach me.

These people are garnishing me for an old student loan - at least threatening to. Now, the gov shows I'm not in default on any student loan - and I only had government loans, and these idiots refuse to provide any information on the loan or even their company info - I had to google the number from Operations Division. They told me they were going to attach a house that I no longer own.... When I said I wanted to consolidate they said I couldn't and the NASTY A$$ supervisor came on line and said I would be garnished next payday. Just whom do I complain to???

Now, student loans are completely separate issue. Wage garnishment is possible to collect a default student loan even without court order. Also student loan has no statute of limitations. So make sure all your student loans are paid.

Department of Education assign student loan to some specific collection agencies only and they are supposed to maintain the guidelines stated under FDCPA. If you find them violating these rules you can contact with DOE and report against them.

You can consolidate your student loans. However, if the loan is tagged has default already, rehabilitate it before going for consolidation. You can go through credit counseling to know your options. Consolidation will relieve from the headache of receiving collection calls also.
