Reviewed all postings here and there was no mention of a class action lawsuit. A google search of Robert Schroth says personal injury lawyer based out of Wyoming. More information please, or is this another scam to get people to give personal information.

My complaint with the Houston BBB was finally answered by the GC Services General Counsel. They deny the allegations. Here is his name and number, for all those having problems why don't you try calling him-can't say the number is real, nothing about this company is honest but here it is anyway.

GC Services Limited Partnership (one of the many companies they operate under)
Joseph M. Van Nest
General Counsel
713-777-4441
713-776-6630 (fax)

Keep filing complaints with FTC Do Not Call; Houston BBB, State's Attorney General.

Keep records of every time they call. Have your phone company trace the calls (may cost a fee, worth it).

PostPosted: Wed Nov 01, 2006 7:17 am Subject: Just an Idea

I use these as a Guideline...

Debt collectors may not state that:
- You will be arrested if you do not pay your debt.
- They will seize, garnish, attach or sell your property or wages unless the collection agency or creditor intends to do so and it is legal to do so.
- Actions, such as a lawsuit, will be taken against you when such action legally may not be taken or when they do not intend to take such action.

A debt collector may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt from you. They cannot:
- Collect any amount greater than your debt, unless your state law permits such a charge.
- Deposit a postdated check prematurely.
- Use deception to make you accept collect calls or pay for telegrams.
- Take or threaten to take your property unless this can be done legally.

Having bad debt collection harassment? Here are some extreme steps you may decide to take:

1: Don't take the calls. You can hang up, screen calls or stop them from calling entirely with what's known as a "cease and desist letter." If you send a "cease and desist," include your name, address and account number, and tell the company "do not contact me further about this debt." Send the letter certified so that you have proof the company received it. But this move doesn't cancel your debt. The original creditor or the collection agency may decide to sue, or the creditor can simply hire another third-party collector.

2: Keep a diary. If you do take the calls, write everything down: dates, times, names and what is said. If it's legal in your state, tape the exchange. And if you tell them you're taping the call; whether you are or not, they'll be more likely to behave.

I keep getting a call from these guys every day and after hearing they are a collection agency, I have not picked up the phone to answer their call. The number on my caller ID comes up as 713-271-3899.

I am glad I read this board first before talking with them. They seem to be nothing but crooks. It also appears they are trying to collect on an American Express account I paid off over 8 years ago. I am not paying them one red cent.

ok, so ive been receiving these calls from GC servies too. ive look into them and found several phone numbers in which people receive calls from them. They are a debt collector for Capital One. i found this by calling them, soundin angry, and demanding the woman (who was frightened and i kind of feel bad for) to tell me what company she works for, what they do and why they call me and dont speak. she told me who they were (GC servies) where there from (Huston Texas) and what they do (Attempt to collect debts for Capital One) then she told me that next time i was called to outright say, "my name is [your name] and i dont own a capital one credit card" and if they keep calling to report the number and the date time of the call.

hope it helps

Above I read STv''s post so I called the 877 290 8894 because I''ve been getting the phone calls from the 713 number. In speaking to the people who answered the phone they asked me for my capital one accoutn number - I told them niether me nor anyone in my household HAD a capital one account number so WHY are the calling me? Their only solution (I was talking to a supervisor at this point) was to pick up the phone when they call and ask to be taken off the list. But I have the same problem that others have here and that is that they hang up when I answer. They supervisor kept telling me to just pick up the phone we can''t do anything on our end. AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH. I have no idea what to do next but disconnecting my phone is my next route. I have varied hours and getting woken up at 8 am when I''ve worked until 2 am sucks!

If they keep calling you and the person they are looking for is not you. Call your phone company and complain. It works, believe me. I got alot of calls from MCI/Bellsouth/Verizon/Etc. Stating that we cease and desist calling that person. I was told by my manager that if I get any of those calls I should take the phone number down and immediently let him know.........Thank God I don't work there anymore.

I've had several calls from 713-271-3899. I'm never home and they never leave a message I'm on the Missouri no-call list.
I reported it to them. The pursue this stuff pretty vigorously for fines.

it's that GC services from Texas. They keep calling my parents house as well, even though i haven't lived there in a few years. they won't answer when I pick up, and they won't tell my parents what they are calling about. all they say is that it's "regarding a personal matter" I need these people to stop calling me. I don't have enough minutes on my cell to stay on the phone with them all the time. it's getting ridiculous.

GC Services is a debt-collection company (duh, I know) that is still one of the few independent non-mergered or consolodated debt-collection firms in operation in the US. Their bread-and-butter is a combination of private sector debt collection as well as public-sector debt collection (i.e. collecting deby for municipal, county, and state governments for stuff like court costs, parking fines, etc.)

They're a legit company, but unfortunately they're also getting pretty big and their brute-force debt collection tactics, as made evident here, is pretty standard faire for the industry. Just as many sectors of GC Services may be doing an excellent job, there may be several other divisions that are doing a piss-poor job and harrassing individuals like you on a daily basis. Due to their size and unwieldy market demographic I'm not surprised they can't mind every corner of the hen house any longer.

Suffice it to say, unlike some debt collection firms, GC Services at least is legit enough to have a headquarters and corporate contacts. Google them. You *can* hunt them down if you want to, I don't know how effective it would be, but you certainly can do so. Compared to some companies that reveal nothing and hide in the shadows, that's at least something.

On a side note, this particular number seems to be a number that is shared across the board by several debt collection services, GC Services being one of them. From my research at least three separate debt collection companies use this number. In the US, most of these calls originate from GC Services call centers.

I only bring this up because I recently got a call myself, and know a bit about GC Services due to past work experience.

Dammit..WHY ME!!! I swear this has got to be th worst way to retrieve any owed monies ever! Why should I have to get online and research this 713-271-3899 in order to obtain the true identity of the collector. I do owe on a credit card but payment arrangements have been arranged and are being met.
You would think that with the amount of folks with similar issues that this would be able to be stopped somehow.
How could you go to work every day and know that you are a douche for calling asking for people that dont own that cell# or phone, or hell even folks that dont owe any money.
All I ask for is a simple message on my cell.
