My question is in regards to InoVision-Medclr-NCOP.
They recently called me said I owed a debt (I spent 5 years fixing mistakes of my past so that now There is nothing out there) and they said I owed a debt from 1997 that just went into collection last year(2005) and that it was for an electric bill for $750. I told them that I did not live in that city at the time of the debt and they said I had to show proof. I asked them what kind of proof and the girl didn't have any idea. I asked what kind of proof they had that it was my debt and she said she had the last four of my social.
Does this sound right?

It is not up to you to prove the debt. It is up to the agency trying to collect to give you full details regarding the debt. You need to send them a debt validation letter certified mail with return receipt.

Hi chrisprove
After the debt is validated with proper info, you will actually come to know that the company is calling you with a valid purpose and with real info. At this point, it sounds suspicious because this debt is said during the time when you never lived in the city.
If you have something in writing from the company, dispute it.
