i have a couple bad marks and have never owned a credit card.i want to build my credit and wanted to know the best card to start this process

Orchard Bank is probably the best, yes they charge an annual fee, but it is easy to make a payment and they are affiliated with HSBC which is always good, I would recommend staying away from First Premier,, they charge for EVERYTHING and then when you make a payment it doesn't post to your account for awhile. Orchard Bank is in my opinion the route to go..

American Express is another possibility. They have credit programs that will not allow you to carry a balance. Until your balance is paid off, you cannot use your card. With a card like American Express, you can get practice at being responsible with credit.

I have an account with First Premier and they are horrible. I'm in the process of paying it off and I've also told the company that once I pay it off, I no longer want it. They call me just about every other day wanting to know what they can do to keep me.

does the orchard bank card charge a ton of fees when you start. ive looked into a few bad credit unsecure cards but all seem to charge your credit limit as soon as you get it. id like to find one that does the minimum of this.
