I see your list of Advance Fee Brokers. I am currently trying to get money for college and this [b][b]First Point Loans has called me about the application I submitted. Said that I was approved for 20,000 but I needed to "Secure" the loan by making the first 5payments now 1,150 in order for them to forward my money to me.I am very lery of this and have not done it yet. Can someone please help and tell me if this is a legitimate company or not.
First Points Loans
Firstpointloans.net. 866-467-5127.
The one difference is they say they will take the money out of my checking account and within 24 hourd direct deposit my loan.
Please help me with any info

You are right to be leery of them. No creditable financial company should require you to make payments up front for a loan. I am guessing that if you paid them the $1,150, you'd never hear from them again and never see your money either.

NEVER give a company like this your bank account/credit card account info. That is how a lot of people get ripped off, as these company can just withdraw funds from your account when they please.

The offer is BS! If you need $$$ for college, talk to your school's Financial Aid office. Much better.

The posters are right Kristin. Make an appointment with a financial aid counselor at the college. There are some loan options that are not based on your credit history. Check out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid as well.

You can fill out the FAFSA online here. There are all kinds of loans and grants available. Talk to the Financial Aid Department at the school. Generally, they're pretty good folks.
