My house loan is currently with Countrywide. I need a loan remod. So far they seem eager to please though no details have been given. I asked general questions and I am in the process of getting all the info they requested and will give them a call later today.

I heard from a guy at US Foreclosure Relief that Countrywide is offering a Fresh Start program. Countrywide will set aside past due and do a new loan of some sort. Now, I hesitate to go along with this since the company has a poor rating with the BBB and I can just go to Countrywide directly.

Has anyone heard of this Fresh Start program? Do you think it is ok to go to the servicer on your own? My only hesitation is that Countrywide is holding money from my house insurance because we are behind. We were given money to repair the house and recover personal belongings. Countrywide paid the roofer but refuses to give us the rest of the money for personal things unless we get up to date on the loan. Is that normal?

I am just trying to avoid making anymore mistakes...enough have been made.

I am fearful that not knowing alot about loan remods and stuff that I will agree to something foolish or miss something in my best interest. Is there anywhere to go for advice? I don't want to buy huge fees to someone if countrywide will just help us out directly.

Also, I have heard terrible things about Countrywide...so I am unsure on how to handle them. I heard on another website...ripoff report...that someone made a remodification loan and countrywide still foreclosed and put the house on the market.

I am pretty far behind and have received no warnings or foreclosure procedings from them.

Since they were taken over by Bank of America, a portion of Countrywides loans that are subprime will be up for modification.

Not only are they up for modification,I also believe some foreclosures from Countrywide have been suspended!

This link may explain it a little better.

Good Luck!

PS. I too have heard from other people missing mortgage payments and never receive a default notice. If this were a year ago it would be a different story.

involved

I had a country wide home loan and I was 9 months past due and was put on a repayment plan for 9 months I just completed the plan on 7/30/09. 5 days later I received a phone call stating that I still owed $85.08 for "inspections" On 8/17/09 I received a letter in the mail thanking me for completing my repayment plan that was agreed upon and that my account was now current. I got my statement which was also dated 8/17/09 that said I owed the $85.08. To me current means current and I should not have to pay any more money since I completed the repayment plan as set out. Would I owe this money the repayment plan schedule did not say fees to change or anything like that. I talked to 4 different people yesterday and not a single person would or could help me. I told them I didn't feel I owed this $85.08 because it should have been included in my repayment plan and that is not my fault. I just finished paying them $6363.00 over the past 9 months and I think they are bogus anyways because another lady I work with is having the same problems other than she has written them 22 certified letters in 2 years and has not received a response at all. Also when I first went on this repayment plan I was going to pay $1378.61 up front well when I made my payment over the phone for the $1378.61 with confirmation and everything. Then I checked my bank account and they took out $3170.46 which was not the authorized amount. The money bounced out of my account because I didn't have that much in there and that wasn't how much I wrote the check for to begin with. I did receive the overdraft fees back and the $20 over the phone fee I had to pay to make the payment to begin with. Do I have grounds for any sort of legal action for them doing this to me?
