Hello,
I mainly have credit card debt, no payday loans. Thank goodness. I learned my lesson on those several years back. I'm wondering what I should do. I've been reading posts on this forum all morning. Seems like a lot of ppl have gotten some very good advice. I'm thankful I've ran across the site before getting scammed or further in debt.
My question is...
Should I try to get approved for a loan to pay off my credit cards or consolidate or something else that you can suggest. I just want to get out of debt! My cc debt is about $5500, have a couple personal loans $1500, medical bill $600. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks, oklahomagal

I would at least contact someone and hear your options for a consolidation. You can also click on the "do it yourself" link at the top of the page if you want to try it on your own. The main part in DIY is to contact and work with your creditors. All they would like is their money. All you want it to resolve your debt but live. There is a middle ground you both can meet.

When you signed up to this site did you opt for the free counseling. If you did you will be contacted by a professional who will explore your options with you. If not you can do so now by clicking the link on the side of this thread. debt consolidation might be a good idea for you as your debt is probably around the 10K that is required by most consolidation firms. Try to stay away from places offering you loans to pay off debt. You will wind up worse off then your are. Also places that want an up front fee to get you a loan. debt settlement is not good either as it will damage your credit. Your credit score may drop a little during a consolidation but will go up soon afterward
