We own our home, well paying on it. We just recovered from a mistake I made last year that almost cost us our house.
We are doing okay now but I keep thinking about consolidating our loans. We owe about 12K through a bank. I know we have some equity in our house so I don't think that the mortgage payment would go up much unless the percent is higher.
Would it be a smart idea to refinance our mortgage and tack on our bank loan?
Would we be able to write off all of the mortgage at tax time even though it isn't all mortgage?

Shop with different lenders and compare the rates. You can discuss with the lenders about your tax issues in case you can get them written off.

If you are interested, i can send you the name of the loan officer who just redid my loan. I had a conversation with my mother-in-law about this man, and she just refinanced her house as well. If anything, he is a very nice guy and I'm sure he wouldn't mine answering your questions and maybe he can help you out. If you want the info, just let me know.
