I need to do a short sale and I have been told that its MUCH MUCH better to choose a realtor who has done MANY short sales. Is this true?

I am a Realtor and yes it is better but even better is to hire a Realtor who uses a short sale negotiator to do the work with the banks--it is VERY time consuming and tedious to do..the banks won't talk to you about the shortsale-you have to be listed with a realtor. hope this helps!

I too, am a Realtor, and we did over 50 short sales in our office last year and plan to do 50 or more this year as well. We have a full time staff member that does nothing but negotiate short sales. Beware of third party companies that won't negotiate the short sale for a flat fee. The companies that want you to sign the property to a trust or begin by making low ball offers to your bank are no longer legit.

Whatever way you go, make sure you find someone who does a lot of them.

Let me know if you are in Michigan, I can help you.

I agree-don't use anyone that doesn't charge a flat fee and who has been doing it for a long time..and it is a full time job as Jason states above..good luck and God bless!
