I need some ideas - I have a friend, that may need to leave her husband soon. Problem is, she has 3 dogs. Any friends or family that she could stay with couldn't take the dogs. But as any dog owner knows, she can't just leave them. She can't afford to get a place on her own right away, so she will need to rely on her friends and family for a roof . . . . But what about her babies?

There has to be something she can do????
Something temporary??? She can't give them away, that would be too much. What other options are there? Does anyone know about rescue groups? Do they take in dogs temporarily? Anything????? Are there dog foster homes? How would someone find them? Are they even safe?

Here in New york on Craigs List, there are people willing to foster dogs and cats while owners relocate etc. She might try putting an ad in Craigs list . References are asked for, so I asssume they would be safe.

Another issue - When she first leaves she will be in one state, then will be moving to another state within a month or so . . . . So she'd need places in 2 states.

I have heard there are foster homes for dogs also! Good advice to look on Craigs list and also contact the local Humane Society, Friends of Strays and the SPCA for help!

I'd really feel better with a group - Craig's list freaks me out, and I know I would not feel comfortable trusting my dog's life with some stranger that answered an ad . . . . Plus, they would want something in return, right? I don't think that she could pay much . . . .

Usually the people that foster on Craigs List are associaated with a rescue group. Some want a small fee, some do not require anything

i wouldn't go with craigs list unless your friend was looking for a perm home.for foster care i would take frog's advice and with the local humane society or there might be a best freinds in the area.you should be able to google them.

Paul. I just know about NY, but here on Craigs list is where the groups that foster are listed. Humane society , aspca, etc, list their foster families .

i know,but since goudah is out west i figured her freind was too.best freinds is based out of utah.figured they might be able to help here.

Best Friends isn't the same place as Dogstown is it? I know that is in Utah too . . . .

yes,they are a not for profit animal rescue and care facility.we have gotten help from them for our pets.
they should be able to help in this instance.
