How do I know if a lender is licensed to provide Deferred Presentment in Hawaii or not?

Note: Check Cashers/Deferred Presentment Providers should display a notice and send a written agreement to the consumers while entering into agreement that clearly states the fees, the APR, places to find financial education. How much fees can be charged?

Lender/Check Casher/Deferred Presentment Provider cannot charge more than 15% of the face value of the check. Face value of the check, again, cannot exceed $ 600.00 and maximum loan term is 32 days.
Moreover, the total amount of transaction, i.e. Principal + Fees, should not cross 25% of the consumers’ gross income.
Note: Doing business with a person who already has a deferred deposit open from any source is not allowed. And no renewals are allowed here in Hawaii.

What actions lenders can take if the check returns?

No criminal action can be taken; check casher can collect $20 fees for dishonored check. It’s not allowed to add excessive fees for legal or court costs.
