Hi everyone.
I am wondering if anyone has ever heard of/received a call from "the fraud division of CCB." I received a voicemail stating they are calling due to allegations involving my name and social security number. They also called a friend of mine and stated that she was listed as a reference. I am pretty sure this "attorney's office" is somehow linked to a payday loan company, as the calls did not start until I sent my letter demanding my refund and notifying these companies that they were not legal to lend in the state of Indiana, etc., etc.
Today I received another message from "James Black" at this company stating that if I did not return his phone call, they would process this through my county.
Just trying to see if there is anyone else here that has had to deal with these people and if there is a proper way I should deal with his calls.
Thanks!

I''ll be honest right off the bat with you people. I did collections for payday loans. Not with this company, but in the past.
Just pay your bills and noone would be calling you. And don't be mad when someone does call you.
I would have your:
Name
Social Security Number
Date of BIrth
Place of Employment you wrote down when you applied
Your bank name, account number and check number
your drivers license number
2 references that YOU PUT DOWN.
and YOU would still deny that you did it. How in the hell can you deny that. "it wasn't me" they'd say. "i had identity theft" ... yeah sure you did. Just man up and pay your bill. Stop taking loans out and you wouldn\\\'t have this problem
Its utterly amazing. Someone takes out a loan in say 2007 for around $600. They then don\\\'t pay it back. It goes through collections. They get contacted after calling every friend/neighbor/relative available to just pass a message to you because your number is constantly changing.
Even family members will say how big of a piece of trash some of you are. Saying they always disconnect their line, always change the number that even family can\\\'t keep up.
Then first off they make a bigoffensive language removed deal about how the number is found. Here your being told your facing re-precautions for bouncing a check and ALL you want to argue about is how they got your number. YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY THEY REACHED YOU. Then the excuses start. The sob stories. You get mad at them because they don't feel sorry for you that you haven't worked in 3 years. 3 fucking years! No excuses. I dont want to hear about the economy, hurricane Katrina...nothing. Its 3 years, theres temp agencies. Any decent human being will find a job in 3 years instead of sitting on their a** doing nothing.
Then you get the excuse of "you're calling about something that happened 3 years ago?!"....well of course. If i borrowed $500 from you and left you holding your sack with a bad check....and you saw me 3 years down the road wouldn\\\'t you want your money back too?!
Or \\\"well i never heard anything from them so i didnt pay it"...your an adult. Stop acting childish. If you have a mortgage or car note...they don\\\'t contact you every month to pay it. You know its out there, so pay it.
Then you people will do anything to get off the phone. "Ooh my card is in my wallet and i dont have it on me" "its in the car" "i'm heading out to a funeral ill have to call you back\\\" \\\" i need to check my finances" then within ONE DAY your number is disconnected.
Or just the simple "I dont recall any of this\\\"...i\\\'m sorry, but if i borrowed hundreds of dollars i\\\'d remember it no matter how long ago it was.

OMG I have had several agnecies call me on a debt that has been settled over 2 years ,Thank God I saved my information. However I have showed a company since then I paid it they sent me an email saying all is good now I am getting calls AGAIN for a new company. Today he left a message on my card saying the county I lived in courts would be contacted but I could avoid it if I call their office back...Well he can kiss it b/c I refuse to call him back and hia scare tactics won't work on me. This is just crazy that they get way with craop like this. I have started saving all the messages they leave me. Reason for Editing (Minimum 15 Characters)

i paid back my loan - over double what i originally took out because i had to make installments per the agreement. when i contacted them and told them i should be done, they stated i had not filled my contractual duties. per the paperwork i had - i had paid them back just fine, actually making one more payment than i should have. i cancelled the auto debits and now 5 years later i'm being threatened over the phone and told that there is no way to reconcile, i either pay more money or they take me to court. not sure how that's fair, or how not contacting me FOR FIVE YEARS and then getting nasty on the phone is ok. my family has encountered this for nearly 2 months. we have tried to remove our name from ANY calling lists and block our number and still no hope. they even contacted me at my place of employment and got ahold of my in law's contact information; and told my mother- in law i inproperly used HER social security number and i was under investigation for fraud and could face prison time.. lets just say my mother- in law was NOT happy with me.. and let me make it clear that i do not have even the clostest idea to what my mother in- laws social security number is.... so by this point this man by the name of James Black has told my in- laws, husband and children i'm basically being search down to go to prison for fraund; against my own family no less. i then proceeded to call the number back with my mother- in law on the line and asked why this "James Black" would lie about such a serious situation... he denied ever even contacting my in laws... to me and my family, this is very much so harrasment.!!!! i just want these phone calls to end.

Ok, first off, Shazzers, if you would actually read these posts, they state that they have already paid these loans back years ago, some, like me, have kept the documentation stating that their accounts are paid in full. So before YOU go off on these people defending these companies who are practicing illegal collection methods, actually read what these people are saying.
In these times, those who are tring to get your financial information to steal your identity are getting more and more inventive, and this is actually one of those companies. My advice to everyone who hears from them, keep records of the conversations and turn them into the AG. As well as the Federal Trades Commission. They will find these companies and shut them down.

I had someone call me and leave a message today saying all the same stuff I've seen on here about a debt and knew the last four of my social but this guy knew the street I live on and said he would be by today to bring me the paperwork to sign. I'm not going to answer it if by chance someone does come by, but has anyone ever dealt with that aspect? Reason for Editing (Minimum 15 Characters)
