Does anyone here do rebates? I've managed to do rather well engaging in this. Saving upc seals, box tops, etc., has brought me coupons for free products, dollars off, and even rebate checks or Visa gift cards. I'm not totally into as my sister is, but she has more time to devote to it than I. I have went grocery shopping with her and seen her get $100.00 worth of groceries for $25.00 or less, using coupons, rebate money, gift cards, etc. It can be time consuming though. Just curious if anyone else does this?? Any tips?

I haven't, but I normally buy generic or at Aldis. I would assume someone who buys a lot of cereal, "kids" food, etc would really be able to save some money this way.

I think in this economy anyone who doesn't take advantage of rebates/coupons is throwing away a great deal of money. My wife will present a stack of coupons at check out and I am amazed at how much comes off that bill. Usually about 30 percent. Say that is 30 dollars a week for a family times 52 weeks per year. Over 1500.00. That is a mortgage payment or more for most people.

I do rebates. But they are a pain in the @$$ making sure you do everything that's required, and then you have to wait like 4-12 weeks for them to mail it to you. Lately I've been having bad experiences with companies that think I forgot, and they never send the rebate. I have to keep hounding them and writing letters demanding the rebate, and then 3-4 months later I finally get it after I complain enough. I just make sure I always send them in certified, so I know they got it.
Actually I just got this email today, for computer parts I bought back in February. I sent them a nasty letter last week threatening to go to the BBB:
| Quote: | Hello {Debtcruncher}:
Your rebate check has been issued and mailed today, you should receive it sometimes next week. Sorry for the inconvience.
thank you,

Every cent counts..that's for sure!! I shop at a store, called Sharp Shopper. It's really great!! REALLY save alot of money there. It's kind of like an Aldi's..which I like, too. Gotta say...seems like everything's going up now...not just gas!!

SDchargers, I think a big part of the reason that everything is going up so much is BECAUSE of gas. It takes gas to ship everything to your local market!
I do some rebates but not a lot. I do use a lot of coupons and can save some good money there. I also love CVS. Not only do they give you money back for shopping there, but usually there are two or three things each month that you can buy and basically get for free because a rebate prints off at the bottom of the receipt that you can use on your next shopping trip there!

i love CVS, too Anymore, I'm finding they're cheaper than Wal Mart, I shop there for many things, though I think they, too, cut back on the extra-care bucks!

I see alot od 'ads' on the web about being able to print your own coupons. Does any know if these coupons are ACTUALLY valid to use? Has anyone tried them before?

some of the coupons you have to download a coupone printer of some sort. I can't do it because my work computer doesn't allow any downloads or software, so I don't know how they work, but they seem to be becoming more and more popular.

I use a couple of different sites to get online coupons. You do have to download printer software, but it hasn't caused me any problems and seems to work with all of the various coupon sites. I've used them at several different stores with no problems, but I have read online that there are some stores that won't accept them. I haven't had any problems though with the stores that I shop at.
