Got a call from Iinterstate from a James Jordan, he started to give me the standard lines, when it got to the part about the attorney - told him I was giving his number to the the AG office in Fla, and they would be very happy to talk to you or your boss. Told him not to call here again. When and placed a block on my phone.

Also consider sending one cease comm. letter through CMRRR. Once they receive your letter, they should cease all communication with you.

If you have any clue of which account they are collecting, then try to contact your lender and get it settled with them directly.

THEY WOULDN'T GIVE ME THEY'RE MAILING ADDRESS OR ANYTHING. THEY SAID THEY WANTED TO MAKE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF ME. I WANT TO KNOW IF THEY ARE LEGIT.

If memory serves me correctly, they are the same people from Ellis Crosby and Anothony Galloway. Don't send them a dime. File a complaint against them with the BBB, Attorney General Office, and the FTC.

I received a phone call today from Ron Jefferies. He said that he was headed to court in an hour because their client Paragon wanted to get the state involved. He said that they would not accept anything from me. He said that because I used my work email that they were taking it to my company and that I needed to have my companies attorney contact them. I called back and they gave me a payoff of 810.00 for a 300.00 payday loan. I am to send it quick collect to cheyanne Wyoming. Help....

Tina,

Wait for a moment. How can you send them money without having the debt validation? What if they call again in future and demand another $810? Always ask for some written document before you pay. Third party debt collectors must provide you with validation according to fdcpa.

So ask them to validate the debt, you can send them a DV letter through CMRRR also.

Do another thing, contact your original creditor and make sure if this agency is holding your account or not. Please go through this page before sending the money:

What if they refuse to validate and say they are going to procede with legal actions? That is what they told me if I don't pay by tonight.

Also, I sent them payment for another loan (I know..dumb move!!) and they said if I don't pay this one they are going to send back the money I already sent ($340) and send the total to be processed.
They said this is all though some bank..US National Bank and Savings bank..I can't find them online or anything about them

Amy, Listen to them. I am not sending them anything today. I had a friend already to help me out because I thought I was going to loose my job over this.
I am contacting the original debtor tonight and go from there. i suggest you do the same thing.

The Collection agency has to validate the debt under the fdcpa act. If they are legitimately holding the account, they will have no problem giving you the validation. The saying of they are going to procede with legal action if you don't pay by tonight is their way of scaring you into it. Don't fall for it. This a common practice of theirs.

thanks!

Do you know how I can record the calls from them?
Is it as simple as just getting a regular tape recorder?

I just received a phone call from a woman asking me if I had an attorney to represent me because legal action would be taken if I didn't pay my debt by 5p.m. today. I asked her for the amount due and she put me on hold because she had to figure out the restitution amount. I was on hold for over 5 minutes and I hung up. I am so glad I came across this website. Her threat of me facing criminal charges scared me and I was ready to send the money. I'll be checking this site for further information.

amy314,

you can go to radio shack and get an adapter that suctions onto your receiver or if you have a speaker phone, just use the speaker and start recording. Be sure to check your laws in regard to recording. Some states allow one party permission and some require both parties knowing of the recorded conversation.
