Well friends, here goes the disclaimer: this is not at all a step to restrict the members from redeeming their debtcc points. We value your participation and want you to receive the deserving rewards for the invaluable contributions towards the community.

However, I’d like to receive your valued suggestions on ‘how often would you like to redeem your points?’

I am proposing that the member should be allowed to redeem her points once in every month. It will generate the following benefits
  • It will facilitate more efficient management of the payouts by the account dept.
  • Instead of cashing out small amounts frequently you can receive larger amount to tackle larger financial issues.
  • It’ll help the members to keep track of their redeemed points.

Let me know friends, do you think it will benefit our community?

Regards,
Jason

JASON...this does sound pretty logical to me.You ARE right..it would be easier to for us to keep track of our points. I can understand your 'point of view' on this. I'm sure you get BOMBARDED with $10.00 payments alot. I haven't cashed out in a while. I know I sent you a PM about this. Thanks for the reply..BTW!

I am fond of this idea ^_^ It makes it more fun, I think, like we are earning and saving up to either tackle a bill, pay off a debt, or treat ourselves to something we've been wanting but have been responsibly denying ourselves since getting our debts paid down comes first ^_^. It will make it all the more rewarding when we can cashout, I think ^_^

Once a month sounds good. Your accounts department would probably appreciate it! And, like you said, it'll be easier to keep track of getting a payment once a month instead of $20 here and there.

I would not like to redeem once a month. i usually keep my points for a while. would this mean I would have to cash out every month? I would not want that.

Good point Kash..I think the premise is good...however, I rarely cash in my points, I usually donate them but the few times I have cashed them in I waited until they were significant. Would we HAVE to cash them in each month?

I think it was meant that the MOST we could cash out was once a month. I don't think it was meant that you are REQUIRED to cash out your balance every month.

At least I hope not I like the idea of being able to save them for as long as we want.

I actually think , and i know I will get hate mail, but lately there has been much too much emphsis on points. we are here to help, and I think sometimes that fact gets a bit lost. But yeah, I dont want to have to cash them in.

No- I understand where you are coming from. Personally, when I see people with point ranges of 6 digits, the first thing I think is "wow, this person has dedicated a lot of time to this community and has helped A LOT of people".

You're right; the points are a perk of this forum. The real reward I think for all of us is the overwhelming sense of community, and the help, guidance, and support we need for getting control of our debts.

*Sorry if I have made this post too off-topic.

The only time I want to redeem my points is maybe a week before Christmas. I don't come here for the points and I am sure many many people don't which is why I think it's a nice idea to redeem my points a Christmas.

That is a nice idea FYI. I all too often think that some people use this forum as a sort of second income, and it does bug me.I think the points are a nice perk, but I would be here if there were none. The better perk is to help people who are in need.

I don't really like that idea . . . . I only cash in my points when I absolutly need them. To be restricted would really suck when that's the only $30 you may possibly have and you've already cashed out once that month. Emergencies happen, and not to be able to count on your points suck. Especially when they are donated to you from other members . . . . . How much would it suck if a friend of your's here needed financial help, and you and everyone was able to round up the points needed, but then couldn't help because of this rule?

A lot of people really rely on these points for things. I agree that people cashing out every week is a bit too much, but is there anyone really doing that? How many people cash out on a more then monthly basis? Why make a rule when there isn't a problem?

I agree . . . . If there isn't a problem, why change things?

I think if you're looking for ideas on how to improve things, maybe have someone that will actually bother to answer a member's questions?

I agree with Goudah. Things happen.....emergencies come up and if you really needed those points and had already cashed out you would be out of luck......I think the system should be left the way it is.I guess I didn't realize there was a problem.

I also do not think that any of us here are using our points as a second income. I have been here for a year and I can honestly say that I have probably only earned about $300 in points. I have cashed out more than that but that is because I had an emergency and some great friends donated to me. But every little bit helps. I had that emergency and my points helped me pay a very important bill. If I had already cashed out that month and I couldn't cash out again, my home would have gone into foreclosure. Recently, as many of you know, I had surgery and was off work for two months. The few points that I have cashed out since then have gone towards my overwhelming medical bills. I don't think there is too much emphasis on points unless I missed something when I was gone.....we are all helping people but it is really nice when we are rewarded for it also.
