I want to join the community, register and be able to accumulate points, but know I'm not ready to speak with the debt counselors yet. Is this possible? I'm not ready because I have no income right now, so I can't set up debt consolidation since I can't pay for anything right now. But I want to do this and plan on doing debt consolidation and set up payments once I get a job, which hopefully will be soon. Can I register with the community now? I also think joining now will help me be more proactive and keep me on the track to debt consolidation.

I kind of want to unjoin and join again, so let me know if that's possible.
Somehow by asking that question on the sidebar, an account was created, but I definitely don't want that to be my user name. Would much rather fix that now, when I don't have posts and points, then later since I'm sure its something that can't be changed. Can I change my username?
Meanwhile, I've posted other topics under the name I want to use and an account wasn't created. I'm confused.

You would have to contact Admin to change your username.
And yes, you can create an account without having a consult. It's called a Community Signup.
Look at the registration page, and you should see those words. Click on that link and it will take you to the sign up without the consult.

That is the link to the Community Signup Page. Just be careful - It doesn't ask for a username. So create a yahoo or gmail email with the username you want to have here, and use that email to register. Whatever the name on the email is will become your username.

You can change your posting name at any time under your profile I believe. Your posting name should be different then your login id or at least mine is way different. I login with an email address and password.

hmm well let me try again. That didnt work. Well after extensive scientific research I have determined that you in fact can not change your profile name. lol. You can however post without using the free consultation. I have never used it and been a member for over a year. I have done my own settlement and settlement for friends and family.

DS - You used to be able to change your username, but that stopped about a year or so ago when it was being abused. The option is no longer available to members.

Ah that is why I am confused then. I was almost certain I was able to do it before even though I never took advantage of it. I considered changing my forum name to DollarsandSense because that is the more common form but I decided to leave it alone with the meaning of Dollars and things that have passed as opposed to dollars and common knowledge.
